    Abstract: A buckle commissure clamp can be used to attach leaflets of a valvular structure to a frame of a prosthetic heart valve. Tabs of adjacent leaflets can be assembled to the buckle commissure clamp by passing each leaflet through one or more gaps of the buckle commissure clamp. Each leaflet tab can be wrapped around portions of the buckle commissure clamp. Once the leaflet tabs are assembled to the buckle commissure clamp, the assembly can be attached to the frame, for example, by one or more sutures extending between the buckle commissure clamp and a support member, such as a strut of the frame, an actuator of the frame, a locking mechanism of the frame. In some embodiments, the buckle commissure clamp has a substantially W-shape or M-shape.

    Abstract: A prosthetic heart valve and associated methods for assembling a prosthetic heart valve including a plurality of leaflets is disclosed. As one example, a prosthetic heart valve includes a frame; a plurality of commissure support elements, each connected the frame and including two axially-extending members spaced apart from one another to form a window; and a plurality of leaflets, each leaflet comprising a body and two opposing commissure tabs, each commissure tab arranged adjacent to another commissure tab to form a pair of commissure tabs that are disposed in a commissure support element to form a commissure. Each commissure tab includes a series of overlapping layers that include a first set of two overlapping layers that extends through the window and a second set of two overlapping layers that extends away from the first set of two overlapping layers and over an outer side of a corresponding axially-extending member.

    Abstract: A prosthetic heart valve comprises an annular frame that is radially compressible and expandable between a radially compressed state and a radially expanded state, wherein the frame elongates in an axial direction when radially compressed from the radially expanded state to the radially compressed state.     Abstract: A prosthetic valve assembly includes a radially expandable and compressible annular frame. The frame includes a plurality of interconnected struts, which include a plurality of inner struts and a plurality of outer struts. The inner struts overlap adjacent outer struts at a plurality of pivot joints. Radial expansion or compression of the annular frame causes the inner struts to pivot relative to the outer struts at the pivot joints. The assembly also includes a valvular structure inside the frame having a plurality of leaflets that regulate blood flow through the frame. Some of the struts include recessed portions and other struts that cross the recessed portions include segments that are seated in the recessed portions at the pivot joints. This provides a continuous or flush inner or outer surface of the frame.

    Abstract: Disclosed are techniques for construction of prosthetic heart valves, particularly techniques for attachment of scalloped edges of valvular leaflets to struts of mechanical frames using sutures and/or other materials as intermediate coupling members. In some embodiments, the scalloped edges of the leaflets are coupled to the segments of the struts of the frame via suture loops that are oriented transverse to the scalloped edges of the leaflets. In some embodiments, central portions of scallop line segments are attached to the scalloped edges of the leaflets and are not attached to the frame. In some embodiments, strut segments are tapered to limit translation of suture loops. In some embodiments, a cloth strip couples the scalloped edges of the leaflets to frame struts. In some embodiments, the scalloped edge is attached to adjacent segments of intersecting struts via sliding suture loops, where the adjacent segments join at a common pivot joint.

    Abstract: In one embodiment, a method of assembling a prosthetic valve can comprise forming a radially expandable and compressible frame by pivotally joining together a plurality of struts without requiring individual rivets. In some embodiments, the frame is formed by interweaving the struts, which can be joined using integral hinges formed in the struts, such as by performing alternate cuts on the struts, bending the struts to form stopper tabs adjacent to joints and/or drilling holes in the struts to facilitate interconnecting struts at joints, or otherwise forming integral hinges and corresponding holes at junction points between the struts. In other embodiments, separate hinges are provided to interconnect the struts. In still other embodiments, separate flanged rivets are provided to connect the struts.
