摘要： In an image forming apparatus, a photoreceptor carries a latent image on its looped surface. An optical writing unit moves between an operating position at which writing of a latent image is performed on the looped surface of the photoreceptor and a standby position at which writing is not performed. A developing device develops the latent image carried on the photoreceptor. A reference position member is located at a reference position for positioning the optical writing unit. A positioning member positions the optical writing unit. A bias coil spring biases the reference position member so that the reference position member contacts the positioning member.

摘要： A frame constitutes an apparatus, and includes a first side plate, a second side plate that faces the first side plate, and a connecting member between the first and second side plates. The connecting member includes a first-side connecting portion and a second-side connecting portion. The first-side connecting portion is connected to the first side plate so that the first side plate does not move with respect to the connecting member. The second-side connecting portion includes a first connecting portion and a second connecting portion. The second side plate moves with respect to the connecting member on a second-connecting-portion side with the first connecting portion as a center. The first and second side plates are attached with a cover member that is openable and closable from the front side of the apparatus.

摘要： An image forming apparatus includes an exposure device as a light source, a developer container storing developer and attached to a main body of the image forming apparatus perpendicular to a lengthwise direction of the photoconductor, a developing unit and a photoconductor unit having a photoconductor for bearing a latent image thereon each detachably attached to the main body substantially in the same direction as the developer container. An exposure device displacing mechanism displaces the exposure device between a first position enabling the exposure device to function as the light source and a second position disabling the exposure device to function as the light source. The photoconductor unit is detached when the developer container is either displaced from an initially attached position or is removed from the main body and the exposure device displacing device has displaced the exposure device to the second position.

摘要： In the present invention, a winder shaft of a toner supplying device and that of an imaging cartridge are coupled with gears, and a lock lever for locking rotation of gears is provided with the toner supplying device. Moreover, only when the imaging cartridge is attached to the toner supplying device, the lock lever is set released by a rib disposed for the imaging cartridge, whereby removals of seals for the toner supplying device and the imaging cartridge is made feasible. Thus, without accompanying fear that the seals are removed during storage, toner supplying device can be attached so as to supply toner when a toner in the imaging cartridge is used up.

摘要： An automatic sheet feeder having a first tray capable of moving upward and downward and a second tray arranged adjacently behind the first tray (upstream in a sheet feed direction). The first tray moves upward to press a first stack of sheets against a sheet feed roller. When the first stack of sheets is all fed out, the first tray moves downward, and a second stack of sheets is moved by a movement mechanism from the second tray onto the first tray. The first tray is shorter than the stack of sheets, and the second tray is longer than the stack of sheets. Even if the second stack of sheets on the second tray is displaced by vibration, the first tray can move downward without interfering with the second stack of sheets.

摘要： A toner container has a rotatable cylindrical member attached to an opening portion of a recessed side wall of the toner container. A portion of the outer periphery of the cylindrical member includes a toner port so that toner particles contained in the toner container can be fed through the toner port to a developer. The cylindrical member is rotatable from a position where the toner port is at the bottom of the cylindrical member to a position where the toner port is at the top of the cylindrical member under a lid member which covers the toner port to completely prevent the leakage of toner particles from the toner container during the exchange or transportation of the toner container.
