    摘要: There are provided a data recording medium, a reading device for reading the data recording medium, a recording device for reading the data recording medium and recording data to other media, and methods thereof able to prevent forgery without comparing visible information and data stored in a built-in electronic circuit chip. The reading device is for reading a data recording medium including a sheet portion visibly printed with an image and a data storage unit recorded with control data. The reading device comprises a first reading unit adapted to optically read the image on the sheet portion, a second reading unit adapted to read the control data including read permission data indicating whether reading of the image is permitted, a determination unit adapted to determine whether reading of the image by the first reading unit is permitted based on the read permission data obtained by the second reading unit, and a controller adapted to control the first reading unit based on the determination by the determination unit.

The first memory stores a reference pattern including a plurality of reference basic units, each of which represents specific minimal information, is superposed on input image data, and represents specific entire information. The data detector detects a basic unit in the input image data based on the reference basic unit included in the reference pattern stored in the first memory. The second memory accumulates a number of basic units detected by the data detector. The third memory stores a predetermined value. The determiner determines whether the number of basic units detected by the data detector and stored in the second memory is equal to the predetermined value stored in the third memory.

    摘要: An image processing system processes a composite original image having both of letter and picture information to have the letter information extracted. An image signal in the form of pixel is checked to see if it is a letter pixel, in which case "1" is assigned, or a picture pixel, in which case "0" is assigned, so that a plane data of "1s" and "0s" is obtained and stored in a plane memory. At the same time, the image signal is converted into a binary image data which is stored into an image memory. The data stored in the plane memory is subjected to two-step digital filtering processing, first step to eliminate isolated black and white dots and second step to smooth the data, thereby obtaining filtered data which define one or more letter regions in an original document. Using the thus defined letter region data, the binary image data stored in the image memory is processed, thereby extracting only the letter image data.
