Abstract: In accordance with an embodiment, an image forming apparatus comprises a reading section, a gradation conversion section and an image processing section. The reading section positioned at a back surface of a sheet which is a reading object is provided with a back surface part having a predetermined color at the back surface side of the sheet to read at least one surface of the sheet by using the back surface part as a background. The gradation conversion section executes a gradation conversion processing of enlarging a level difference in brightness at a highlight side on image data read by the reading section. The image processing section identifies an area of the sheet part and an area of the back surface part in the image data based on the image data to which the gradation conversion processing is executed.

Abstract: Image data representing an image are obtained. A quadrangular area, which is defined by a quadrangle including a group of pixels with a first color, is specified. The first color corresponds to a color of an outline of a hole image in the image. A hole orientation is specified based on positions of the group of pixels with respect to the quadrangular area. The hole orientation represents a direction that the outline of the hole image occupies. When the hole orientation is specified, a candidate area is specified by extending the quadrangular area in an extension direction. The extension direction corresponds to a direction opposite to the hole orientation and extending along one of sides of the quadrangular area.

Abstract: A document camera device includes a processor that executes a procedure. The procedure includes: performing control so as to display, in cutout processing that cuts out and saves, from an image imaging a subject, an image corresponding to an inside of a region designated for the subject, an image specifying a region associated with identification information of a subject targeted by the current cutout processing on the subject targeted by the current cutout processing, based on history information associated with identification information of the subject and with the region in cutout processing that was executed in the past; and performing processing that, when a region specified by an image specifying the region has been selected, sets an image cut out and saved from inside the selected region as an image that has been cut out by the current cutout processing.

Abstract: In a motion estimation for a group of at least one image element in a frame of a video sequence, a global motion is determined between the frame and a reference frame. Uncovered groups present in an uncovered region of the frame are identified based on the determined global motion. The global motion is assigned as motion representation for these identified uncovered groups. The assigned motion representation is useful for constructing new frames in the sequence in a frame rate up-conversion.

An image forming apparatus receives a print document sent from a computing device remote from the image forming apparatus. The print document includes print data. The image forming apparatus further receives a directive to remove, from the print document, at least one type of object selected for removal, wherein the print data includes data representing one or more objects of the type of object selected for removal. In response to the directive, the image forming apparatus removes the one or more objects of the type of object selected for removal prior to printing the print document.
