摘要: In ferromagnetic powders mainly composed of iron oxide, the ferromagnetic iron oxide(s) comprise a superparamagnetic material which provides a peak showing superparamagnetism by measurement of the Mossbauer Effect spectrum. The ferromagnetic iron oxides are suitable for making highly sensitive magnetic recording media having excellent frequency response with lowered modulation noise.

摘要: A magnetic tape having a leader tape excellent in cleaning effect and free from change of the apppearance and decrease of the cleaning effect even after storage at high temperatures is provided. This magnetic tape has a leader tape at at least one end of the tape, the leader tape comprising a coating layer provided on the one or both sides of a support, and is characterized in that the coating layers contains an inorganic pigment powder with a grain size of 0.01 to 10 .mu.m or a mixture of an inorganic pigment powder with a grain size of 0.01 to 5 .mu.m and a resin powder with a grain size of 0.1 to 10 .mu.m, and a binder, the support has a haze of 20 to 80% and the leader tape has a percent photo-transmission of at least 20%.

摘要: A magnetic recording medium such as an audio cassette tape or a video cassette tape comprising a flexible nonmagnetic support and a magnetic recording layer which contains a ferromagnetic cobalt-containing iron oxide, in which the nonmagnetic support has a surface of a center line average height in the range of 0.01 to 0.1 .mu.m on both sides and the magnetic recording medium has a heat shrinkage ratio of not higher than 1%, the heat shrinkage ratio being determined after allowing to stand at 110.degree. C. for 4 hours.

摘要: A magnetic recording medium having a heat shrinkage ratio of not higher than 1% and comprising a nonmagnetic support in the form of a tape which has a heat shrinkage ratio of not higher than 1.8%, a Young's modulus of 450 to 650 kg/mm.sup.2 in the longitudinal direction and a Young's modulus of 450 to 550 kg/mm.sup.2 in the width direction, and a magnetic recording layer provided on the support which comprises a binder and a ferromagnetic powder dispersed therein and has a squareness ratio of not less than 0.89. All the heat shrinkage ratios are values determined after being allowed to stand at 110.degree. C. for 4 hours.

摘要: A magnetic recording medium comprising a support having coated thereon a magnetic recording layer containing a ferromagnetic powder dispersed in a binder and a vinyl chloride-vinyl acetate copolymer having a degree of polymerization from about 10 to 100 and at least one terminal carboxyl group. The magnetic recording medium contains the above copolymer in an amount of from about 0.1 to 10 wt % based on the amount of ferromagnetic powder, and preferably also contains a conventional binder. This magnetic recording medium provides both video and audio magnetic tapes having superior running properties, durability and electromagnetic properties.

摘要: A process for preparing a magnetic coating composition using a dried magnetic metal powder, or a magnetic metal powder containing 50% by weight or less of a solvent is described. The process comprises adding from 0.1 to 10 parts by weight of an abrasive, from 5 to 20 parts by weight of a main binder, and from 0 to 60 parts by weight of a solvent to 100 parts by weight (calculated as a dry powder) of the magnetic metal powder and, thereafter, kneading the resulting mixture while applying a shearing stress of from about 20 to about 300 kg/cm.sup.2.

摘要: A magnetic recording medium is disclosed. The medium is comprised of a non-magnetic support base having a magnetic layer thereon. Magnetic layer is comprised of a binder having a ferromagnetic powder dispersed therein. The binder is comprised of a copolymer of vinyl chloride/vinylidene chloride/vinyl alcohol in a ratio of 20 to 89 wt % of vinyl chloride: 10 to 60 wt % of vinylidene chloride: 1 to 20 wt % of vinyl alcohol. By utilizing the particularly disclosed polymer as the binder the magnetic recording medium has a superior capacity with respect to reproducing original sound and images and also has improved running properties and durability.

The fatty acid has a melting point of 20.degree. C. or less and contains from 12 to 30 carbon atoms.
