Abstract: Provided is an encoding/decoding technique according to which it is possible to perform encoding with a small average bit count, even for a series of integer values with a distribution that is significantly biased to a small value, including small values that are not zero values. The present invention includes an integer encoding unit that, for an input series of non-negative values xn, n∈{1, 2, . . . , N} (hereinafter referred to as “integer series”), obtains a one-bit code with a bit value of “x” as a code corresponding to L consecutive integer values 0 included in the integer series, L being an integer that is 2 or more, and obtains a K×xn-bit or a K×xn+1-bit code that includes at least one bit value “x” and at least one bit value “y” in the first bit to the K-th bit and in which the bit values of the K×(xn−1) bits from the end are “y”, as a code corresponding to a set composed of 0 to L−1 consecutive integer values 0 included in the integer series and one integer value xn other than 0.

It is assumed here, for each order i of some orders i at least, that the coefficient wO(i) corresponding to the order i is in a monotonically increasing relationship with an increase in a value that is negatively correlated with a fundamental frequency of the input signal of the current frame or a past frame.

Abstract: A coding method and a decoding method are provided which can use in combination a predictive coding and decoding method which is a coding and decoding method that can accurately express coefficients which are convertible into linear prediction coefficients with a small code amount and a coding and decoding method that can obtain correctly, by decoding, coefficients which are convertible into linear prediction coefficients of the present frame if a linear prediction coefficient code of the present frame is correctly input to a decoding device. A coding device includes: a predictive coding unit that obtains a first code by coding a differential vector formed of differentials between a vector of coefficients which are convertible into linear prediction coefficients of more than one order of the present frame and a prediction vector containing at least a predicted vector from a past frame, and obtains a quantization differential vector corresponding to the first code; and a non-predictive coding unit that generates a second code by coding a correction vector which is formed of differentials between the vector of the coefficients which are convertible into the linear prediction coefficients of more than one order of the present frame and the quantization differential vector or formed of some of elements of the differentials.

Abstract: An optical communication system includes a signal processing apparatus and a wireless apparatus between which functions of a base station are divided, wherein a periodic symbol sequence including a cyclic prefix appended to a signal of a predetermined size to which an IFFT (Inverse Fast Fourier Transform) has been applied is transmitted between the signal processing apparatus and the wireless apparatus by means of digital RoF (Radio over Fiber) transmission, the signal processing apparatus and the wireless apparatus each include a transmission unit and a reception unit, the transmission unit includes: a first separation unit that acquires symbol information relating to a starting position of the symbol sequence and lengths of symbols constituting the symbol sequence, and that equalizes the lengths of the symbols by separating a portion of the symbol sequence based on the acquired symbol information; and a compression unit that compresses symbols that are to be compressed from which the separated portion of the symbol sequence has been removed, and the reception unit includes an expansion unit that expands the compressed symbols and restores the symbols.

Abstract: An envelope sequence is provided that can improve approximation accuracy near peaks caused by the pitch period of an audio signal. A periodic-combined-envelope-sequence generation device according to the present invention takes, as an input audio signal, a time-domain audio digital signal in each frame, which is a predetermined time segment, and generates a periodic combined envelope sequence as an envelope sequence. The periodic-combined-envelope-sequence generation device according to the present invention comprises at least a spectral-envelope-sequence calculating part and a periodic-combined-envelope generating part. The spectral-envelope-sequence calculating part calculates a spectral envelope sequence of the input audio signal on the basis of time-domain linear prediction of the input audio signal. The periodic-combined-envelope generating part transforms an amplitude spectral envelope sequence to a periodic combined envelope sequence on the basis of a periodic component of the input audio signal in the frequency domain.
