摘要： A family of transmissions wherein each family member has an input shaft, an output shaft, three planetary gear sets, and five rotating torque transmitting mechanisms (clutches). A first and second of the planetary gear sets have continuously interconnected first and second members through a interconnecting member, and the second members are continuously connected with a stationary housing. The third planetary gear set has a first member connected with the input shaft and a second member is connected with the output shaft. Five selectively engageable clutch mechanisms are interconnectable between members of the planetary gearsets, the input shaft, and the output shaft. The clutches are engaged in combinations of two to establish six forward speed ratios and one reverse ratio.

摘要： A powertrain includes an engine and torque converter, a planetary transmission, and a final drive mechanism. The planetary transmission is selected from a family of transmissions wherein each family member has a first, a second, and a third planetary gear set; and each planetary gear set has a first, a second, and a third member. All of the family members have five torque transmitting mechanisms of the rotating type commonly named clutches. Each of the first members of the first and second planetary gear sets is continuously connected with a stationary portion of the transmission, and each of the first members of the third planetary gear set and the second member of the second planetary gear set are interconnected for common rotation by a connecting member. The input shaft is continuously connected with a member of one of the planetary gear sets, and the output shaft is continuously connected with another member of the planetary gear sets. The five clutches provide selective interconnections between members of the planetary gear sets and also between the planetary gear members and the input and output shaft. The clutches are engaged in combinations of two to establish at least six forward speeds and a reverse speed.

The first planetary gear set has a first member continuously interconnected with an input shaft. The third planetary gear set has a first member continuously interconnected with an output shaft. A second member of the first planetary gear set, a first member of the second planetary gear set and a second member of the third planetary gear set are continuously interconnected for common rotation. The first and third planetary gear sets each have one non-continuously interconnected member, and the second planetary gear set has two non-continuously interconnected members. Two stationary torque transmitting mechanisms are provided to each connect one of the non-continuously interconnected members with a stationary portion of the transmission. Three rotary torque transmitting mechanisms are provided to interconnect the nonconnected members with another nonconnected member or with the input or output connected members. Judicious selective engagement of the torque transmitting mechanisms, in combinations of three, provides six forward speed ratios and one reverse speed ratio.

摘要： The family of six-speed planetary transmissions incorporates three planetary gearsets and five torque-transmitting mechanisms, which are engaged in combinations of two to establish at least six forward speeds and one reverse speed within the planetary transmission. The five torque-transmitting mechanisms are comprised of three rotating type torque-transmitting mechanisms (clutches) and two stationary type torque-transmitting mechanisms (brakes). Each of the three planetary gearsets has three members with a first member of the first planetary gearset being continuously interconnected with a first member of the second planetary gearset. A second member of the first planetary gearset is continuously interconnected with a first member of the third planetary gearset. A second member of the second planetary gearset is continuously interconnected with a second member of the third planetary gearset. The input shaft and output shafts are continuously connected with selected members of the planetary gearsets. The five torque-transmitting mechanisms are effective to provide interconnections between the planetary gearsets as well as between the planetary gearset members and the transmission housing to establish the forward and reverse speed ratios.
