Abstract:
A covering for an architectural opening is made for better closure, especially adjacent to the bottom rail. A movable weight is mounted on the bottom rail, so that the weight shifts to the lower side of the bottom rail when the bottom rail is tilted. A lift cord is mounted to support the bottom rail while being freely movable relative to the bottom rail at least in the front-to-back direction. The weight helps shift the bottom rail into the desired position, and, by being freely movable in the front-to-back direction, the lift cord does not interfere with the motion of the bottom rail.
Abstract:
A modular blind transport system for a window blind application. The complete system may be assembled form a relatively small number of individual modules to obtain working systems for a very wide range of applications, including especially a category of counterbalanced blinds wherein a relatively small external input force may be used to raise or lower the blind, and/or to open or close the blind.
Abstract:
This present invention is embodied in a printing system for improving the lightfastness of printed documents produced by a color printer. The present invention includes a preprogrammed lightfastness scheme that can be incorporated in any suitable color printer, such as an inkjet printer, for improving lightfastness of printed documents. In general, the present invention can include an inkjet printhead assembly that incorporates a preprogrammed lightfastness scheme directly into the printer driver for selectively improving color documents produced by an inkjet printer. A general lightfastness scheme can be developed for each class of inkjet printhead assemblies during manufacturing of the class of inkjet printhead assemblies.
Abstract:
An intellectual structure for displaying multi-dimensional data which is represented as a computer generated model or plot of data space in parallel or non-orthogonal coordinates, wherein the data space is presented in a display space which facilitates relative motion of an observer with respect thereto. Accordingly, the essence of the invention is to create motion of the observer with respect to the data space because it significantly facilitates and enhances comprehension of relationships, structures, patterns or trends within the data space. This is accomplished by creating an n-dimensional data display utilizing parallel coordinates to view the resulting data space using observer-based motion.
Abstract:
An addressing method and system for accessing a very large size physical buffer by a number of processes. The novel system is applicable within a computer system having an n-bit computer operating system (e.g., where n is 16, 32, 64, etc.). The addressing method allocates a relatively small window of virtual address space, for each software process, which is used to access the very large physical buffer using a relatively small amount of operating system memory overhead. A page frame number (PFN) table of the system address space maintains a listing of physical memory pages used to define the very large physical buffer. The PFN table is used by each process to translate between a relative page number (RPN) and an address of a physical memory page containing the record. The virtual address space ("window") of each process is used to access the physical memory buffer and contains a hash table, a virtual access control block (VACB) free list, and a VACB table. Entries of the VACB table indicate addresses of virtual memory for the process. Each process also has an associated private page table entry (PTE) table which maintains a mapping between its virtual pages and the physical pages. To map a record, its RPN is determined and used to obtain the address of the physical page(s) in which the record resides. The free list supplies an entry of the VACB table containing a virtual address for the record. The virtual address and the physical address are mapped into the PTE table.
Abstract:
A spectrometer system includes a processing center, an underwater remote sensor and a communication link coupled therebetween. The sensor is deployed to at least partially penetrate a sediment layer disposed beneath a body of water. The sensor includes a window defining a sediment window plane through which a profile of the sediment layer is observable and a camera, an image plane of which is a conjugate of the window, the camera imaging light from objects in the sediment window plane to generate imagewise data, the imagewise data being transmitted over the communications link to the processing center. The sensor also includes at least one removable cell disposed in the sediment window plane, each removable cell being comprised of a transparent solid material having a void therein, the void in each removable cell for holding a standard material corresponding to the respective removable cell. The sensor further includes a camera filter device having at least one camera filter. Each camera filter is characterized as passing radiant energy within a corresponding emission band of camera wavelengths, the camera filter device being controllable to select a current camera filter. The sensor further includes an illumination source to produce radiant energy and an illumination filter device having at least one illumination filter. Each illumination filter is characterized as passing radiant energy within a corresponding illumination band of wavelengths. The sensor further includes a blocking filter device having at least one blocking filter, each blocking filter being synchronously coordinated with a corresponding illumination filter to block light in the illumination band from reaching the camera.

Abstract:
A retention packaging includes a support member having first and second sections each defining a support surface for receiving an object thereon for shipping, and a film disposed in covering relation to the support surfaces of the support member and retained to the support member at the first and second sections. The first and second sections are pivotably connected to one another along a fold line that transects the support member. The film includes opposite ends each enclosing a respective opposite end of the support member and defining overlapping areas of the film that are permanently joined together, and a pleated portion that is located between the opposite ends of the film and that includes at least one fold in the film. The film is removably secured to itself so as to removably secure the at least one fold of the pleated portion.
