摘要： A fixing device includes a primary heater, a secondary heater, and a tertiary heater to heat a primary heating span, a secondary heating span, and a tertiary heating span of a fixing rotator, respectively. A primary temperature detector and a secondary temperature detector detect a temperature of the fixing rotator. A tertiary temperature detector detects a temperature of a pressure rotator. A controller selectively performs a primary control mode to de-energize the tertiary heater and a secondary control mode to connect the secondary heater and the tertiary heater in series to energize the primary heater, the secondary heater, and the tertiary heater. The controller energizes the secondary heater and the tertiary heater in the secondary control mode based on the temperature of the fixing rotator and the pressure rotator detected by the secondary temperature detector and the tertiary temperature detector, respectively.

The first heater includes a first heat generator having a first heating span in a longitudinal direction of the first heater and a first support supporting the first heat generator. A screen screens one of the first heater and the second heater from another one of the first heater and the second heater. 摘要： A fixing device includes a fixing rotator rotatable in a predetermined direction of rotation and a nip formation pad disposed inside the fixing rotator. A pressure rotator presses against the nip formation pad via the fixing rotator to form a fixing nip between the fixing rotator and the pressure rotator. A heat generator is disposed inside the fixing rotator to heat the fixing rotator. A reflector is interposed between the heat generator and the nip formation pad. The reflector includes a reflection face to reflect radiant heat radiated from the heat generator. The reflection face includes a reflection portion disposed opposite the heat generator at various angles. A support is provided separately from the nip formation pad and supports the reflector.

The method includes the steps of forming an electrostatic latent image on a photoconductor; developing the electrostatic latent image into a toner image with a toner; transferring the toner image onto a recording medium having a smoothness of 20 s or less; and fixing the toner image on the recording medium. The toner exhibits an adhesion force of 100 gf or more, where the adhesion force is the maximum value of a pull force between a layer of the toner and standard paper determined by a tacking test with a probe temperature of 140° C.

摘要： An image forming apparatus includes an image forming section, a fixing device, and circuitry. The image forming section forms an image on a recording medium. The fixing device includes a rotator including a flexible endless belt, a pressure rotator pressed against the rotator to form a nip between the rotator and the pressure rotator, a heater heating the rotator, and a movable shield. The movable shield is disposed between the heater and the rotator to shield the rotator from radiant heat generated from the heater and is movable according to a size of the recording medium. The circuitry is configured to control the image forming section to form the image on the recording medium based on an image forming condition and change at least one of an operating temperature of the movable shield or a shielding amount of the movable shield based on the image forming condition.

摘要： A fixing device includes a heater to generate heat and a fixing rotator to rotate while contacting the heater.
