    摘要: A radio front end includes a transformer and an adjustable load. The transformer includes a first winding and a second winding, wherein the first winding is operably coupled to an antenna and the second winding coupled to at least one of a power amplifier and a low noise amplifier. The adjustable load is operably coupled to the second winding, wherein the adjustable load provides a first impedance based on a first impedance selection signal when the radio front end is in a transmit mode and provides a second impedance based on a second impedance selection signal when the radio front end is in a receive module such that impedance at the first winding is substantially similar in the transmit mode and in the receive mode.

    摘要: A low profile Planar Inverted-F Antenna (PIFA) comprises a radiating strip, an inductive tuning portion, a vertical feed portion, and a retracted ground plane. The radiating strip is approximately parallel to the ground plane and is suspended above the ground plane by the feed element at a certain distance. Further, the radiating strip, in part or entirely, overhangs the ground plane. In this way, the radiating strip may be suspended very close to the ground plane, but yet exhibits a large bandwidth.

    摘要: Double transformer balun for maximum PA (Power Amplifier) power. A novel approach is presented herein by which conversion from a differential signal to single-ended signal may be achieved using a double transformer balun design. The secondary coils of the double transformer balun also operate as a choke for the PA supply voltage. The secondary coils can operate as an RF (Radio Frequency) trap or choke to keep any AC (Alternating Current) signal components and to pass any DC (Direct Current) components. By using a double transformer balun design, relatively thinner tracks may be employed thereby ensuring a high degree of electromagnetic coupling efficiency and high performance. Also, these relatively thinner tracks consume a relatively small amount of space on the die. The double transformer balun design also includes a matching Z (impedance) block that is operable to match the Z of an antenna or line that the PA is driving.

    摘要: A mobile phone with a FM antenna structure having improved FM performance in a mobile phone. The mobile phone includes a printed FM antenna having a planar structure less than a planar area of the mobile phone, a conductive layer providing a ground plane to the printed FM antenna, the conductive adjacent the printed FM antenna in an electrostatic field relation; and a battery having a planar surface positioned adjacent an opposite side of the conductive layer. The planar structure of the printed FM antenna and the planar surface of the battery are substantially parallel to each other in a spaced-apart relation improving the FM performance of the printed FM antenna.

    摘要: Off-chip LC circuit for lowest ground and VDD impedance for power amplifier. A novel approach is made by which a chip to PCB (Printer Circuit Board) interface may be made such that the ground and VDD potential levels are effectively brought onto the die of the chip such that a true ground potential is maintained within the chip. This off-chip LC circuit operates cooperatively with an on-chip decoupling capacitor to reduce the overall effective inductance of the bond wires employed to bring signal and voltage levels from the die to the chip exterior. This circuit ensures a relatively low impedance for a PA (Power Amplifier) that is implemented within chip thereby providing for improved performance.

    摘要: An FM receiver including an FM antenna that receives continuous wavelength signals, where the FM receiver is coupled to the FM antenna and operable to alter a center frequency of a gain profile of the FM antenna. The FM receiver includes a low noise amplifier module that is coupled to amplify the continuous wavelength signal to produce an amplified RF signal therefrom. A down conversion module is coupled to mix the amplified RF signal with a local oscillation to produce an information signal. A filter module is coupled to filter the information signal to produce a filtered information signal. A demodulation module is coupled to capture audio information from the filtered information signal. A signal monitoring module is coupled to monitor the FM signal quality of a received continuous wavelength signal. The signal monitoring module produces a signal quality indication therefrom. An antenna control module produces a signal value based upon the signal quality indication, wherein the signal value operates to alter the center frequency of a gain profile of the FM antenna.
