A tie-down device which is removably securable without tools to an inside, downwardly oriented edge of the inner sidewalls of a pickup truck bed. The device has a stationary portion with an upwardly oriented front lip which inserts under the edge of the inner sidewall and has a loop connected to the front lip by means of a "U" shaped valley so that the loop extends upward on the inside of the truck bed. A movable portion which movably engages the loop can first be moved upward in order to position the device so that the downwardly oriented edge is inserted in a gap formed between the front lip and a wedge shaped bumper provided on the movable portion. The movable portion can then be moved downward to secure the device to the pickup truck by wedging the downwardly oriented edge between the bumper and between a vertical face of the front lip. The front lip is provided with a rubberized coating to prevent the device from scratching the finish of the truck bed.

A strap hook retainer for releasably retaining the hook portion of a hold down strap. The retainer includes a rectangular frame having a first opening of a first dimension in a first elongated side, and a second opening of a second dimension in a second elongated side disposed opposite the first side. A pivoting plate is located within the frame and is attached to and pivoted by an arm that extends through, and is supported by, the two short sides of the rectangular frame. The hook may be inserted into the frame via the first opening and is retained by the pivoting plate as the hook extends through the second opening and the pivoting plate pivots downward to engage the "U" portion of the hook. The hook is prevented from release by the configuration of the second opening until the plate is manually pivoted into a raised position. The hook may then be removed from the frame while the plate is held in the raised pivot position.

A movable member can slide in the channel member and has teeth that can be engaged by a panel on the channel member to lock the movable member in any of the more closely spaced positions defined by the spacing between the teeth. The movable member has a further adjustable member with a surface that engages the cargo to hold it in place. The adjustable member can be moved to any position within a range at least as long as the distance between the teeth on the movable means. Selection of the holes into which to engage the studs, and selection of a specific tooth, and setting the adjustable member allows the surface of the latter to be placed at any point in the entire range of positions possible within the locations available in the entire set of holes in the support.

A wheel harness for anchoring a wheel of a motor vehicle with respect to the floor of a transportation vehicle comprises an elongated strap which has an anchor at each end and a wheel chock which is slidably mounted on the strap. The wheel chock can be releaseably secured to the floor in close proximity to a wheel in use to form a chock which will bear against the wheel to prevent movement of the wheel. A length adjustment device is provided for adjusting effective length of the strap to increase or decrease the effective length of the strap to tighten or release the harness with respect to the wheel in use.

Slotted rails are mounted to the tops of the sides, ends and tailgate of a pickup truck box. Each rail has an outwardly extending flange resting on the top of the truck box. The rails are fastened to the box by screws extending through holes in the rails and outwardly into the inside wall of the truck box at the sides and ends. There are longitudinally spaced slots in the rail above the flange. An outwardly opening longitudinally extending groove in the flange receives and secures a reinforced hem of a tonneau cover. One embodiment of the rail has a longitudinally extending downwardly opening groove in the bottom of the rail receiving the upper edge portion of a truck bed liner.

A tie-down assembly is disclosed which includes a plastic guard rail that defines a central floor and spaced, parallel interior walls which cooperate to define a recess, a pair of beveled exterior surfaces disposed outside of the respective interior walls, and an array of slits in the floor. A clamp formed of a folded piece of sheet metal defines a sleeve section disposed in the recess and a shank section which passes through one of the slits in the floor. A tie-down ring is pivotably mounted in the sleeve section and is movable between a stowed position, in which no part of the clamp or tie-down member extends out of the recess, and a use position. Aligned openings are defined by the floor and the shank section of the clamp, and a single fastener can be positioned to pass through the aligned openings in order to secure the entire tie-down assembly in place.
