A packet (1) of cigarettes having: an inner package (2) defined by a group (30) of cigarettes wrapped in a sheet (29) of wrapping material having at least one tear line (32) defining a tear-off top portion (31); an inner container (4) housing the inner package (2) and having an extraction opening (10) for access to the tear-off top portion (31); an outer container (5) housing the inner container (4) in sliding manner, to allow the inner container (4) to slide, with respect to the outer container (5), between a closed position, in which the inner container (4) is inserted inside the outer container (5), and an open position, in which the inner container (4) is extracted partly from the outer container (5); and a tear-off lid (45) connected to the inner container (4) by at least one tear line (48), and covering at least part of the extraction opening (10).

Each flap (6) is furnished with a strip (7) of material presenting a first face (7a) affixed to the flap (6), and a second face (7b), opposite from the first face (7a), able to retain a coating of liquid or paste adhesive; the second faces (7b) of the strips are bonded together to secure the joined flaps (6) one to another.

A cuboidal cigarette pack with a large-surface-area pack side, namely rear side (13), is provided with a blank (23), which serves as a printing carrier, in the region of this rear side (13). The blank is positioned between an outer wrapper (19) of film and the pack (10). A top region of the blank (23) is connected to a detachable top part of the outer wrapper, namely a film cap (22), and is also removed when the pack (10) is opened for the first time.

A resealable hard box cigarette pack is provided with a window type opening extending across a portion of the pack top wall and also a portion of the front wall of the pack. The window is covered by a closure that may be resealed to the pack body either through insertion of a tab on the closure into a tab receiving slot in the front wall of the pack or by applying a permanent package adhesion along the outer edges of the closure with the edges of the openings in the top wall and the front wall.
