摘要:
A multi-section reed for a pneumatic loom includes at least two partial reeds or reed sections that are arranged spaced apart from one another, and a respective reed filler member arranged in the gap between the two reed sections. A substantially continuous or through-going weft insertion air channel is formed by individual air channel sections that are respectively provided in the individual reed sections and reed filler member and that are substantially aligned with each other. In a transition region between a first air channel section and a second consecutive or following air channel section, an inlet end of the second air channel section is enlarged or widened in a funnel-shaped or tapering configuration relative to the cross-sectional dimension of the remainder of the weft insertion air channel, and particularly the outlet end of the first air channel section. The enlarged tapering inlet end of the air channel section provides a smooth transition allowing the inserted weft thread to travel without interference from one reed member to the next, even if the reed members are slightly out of alignment with each other.

An Fe-Cr-Ni alloy used for parts of an automatic loom such as a heald (7) and reed (12) consisting of from 13 to 20% of Cr, from 4 to 15% of Ni, the balance being Fe and unavoidable impurities, and having a microstructure that is 60% or more strain-induced martensite. Wear resistance of the parts is improved, so that neither fluff nor rupture of yarn occurs during loom operation.

A beating apparatus for a thick fabric, comprising a reed supported for advancing and retracting movement, and including a reed frame and a plurality of dents supported by the reed frame for movement toward and away from each other. The beating apparatus also comprises a mechanism engaging the dents to move the dents towards and away from each other, thereby to decrease and increase spacing between the dents, in correlation with advancing and retracting movement, respectively, of the reed.

A profiled weaving reed, especially for shuttleless looms with pneumatic weft thread insertion, has profiled reed teeth which are so deformed along the path of weft thread insertion that a first deformation forms an edge slanted in the direction of weft thread insertion while a further deformation on the opposite side of the respective reed tooth is slanted in the opposite direction. The first deformations may, for example, have a bent edge. The first and further deformations of all individual reed teeth form, over the width of the reed a type of groove or throat in which the weft thread is guided. The deformations prevent or greatly reduce an air loss through the reed and improve the air flow transporting the weft thread.

The reed is intended for looms having a guiding channel for a weft thread inserter and includes a plurality of plates interconnected at their bottom parts and each having a recess. The recesses of the plates jointly define the open guiding channel for a moving weft inserter and for leading out the weft or filling thread. At their portions outside the shed the plates have projections or lugs extending toward the adjacent plates and spaced therefrom. This provides for keeping stable the dimensions of the guiding channel as the weft inserter moves therealong, and also facilitates threading of the warp through the reed.

An auxiliary member or accessory serves to reduce or limit the length of a weaving reed for the purpose of adapting it to the desired weaving width, so that the same reed can be used for differing weaving widths. The auxiliary member or accessory can be a stretching device or a detection device for the inserted weft threads. A flange of the auxiliary member is inserted between two reed lamallae or dents and is fixed on the rear side of the read by means of a locking element.

A device adapted to be introduced into the shed of a weaving loom. The device is designed to facilitate insertion of a weft by an air stream. The device has a plurality of leaves which are spaced apart to allow the passage of the warp yarns. The leaves are placed in front of the reed and are provided with a recess, which recess is situated opposite the teeth. A portion of the reed, opposite to the recess, has a sharp-edged profile while the remaining portion has a round and smooth edged profile.

A loom reed (10) comprised of plastic dent strips (A, B) is illustrated having a profiled section (32, 34) which is reinforced for weft yarn beat-up into the cloth (C). The profiled section includes a web (38, 48) of reduced thickness which creates additional air space facilitating passage of knots and the like in the warp yarn through the space between adjacent dent strips. A rim (40, 50) created by the reduced web maintains the warp yarn generally out of contact with the remaining plastic surface of the dent to reduce surface drag and friction. A metal insert (56) is utilized in the dent strips at the edge of the reed for additional stiffness where the cloth beat-up forces are attenuated. A tunnel forming recess (36, 52) is formed in the dent strips to form a tunnel across a length of the reed facilitating weft insertion by containment of a fluid jet. Various means to expedite the assembly of the dent strips into a reed are provided one of which (60, 66) eliminates the need for conventional channel strips (12, 14). Tunnel alignment means are provided by complementary protuberances (70, 74) and indentations (72) aligning the ends and thus the individual recesses (52) across the tunnel length.

A weaving reed comprises a plurality of flat reed dents stacked side-by-side in a reed channel or container, each reed dent having opposed end sections terminating in side edges, one of such end sections of each reed dent having an outer edge thereof provided with an identification notch spaced from the side edge at that end section a distance corresponding to the thickness of a given reed dent, such that stacked reed dents of like thickness will have aligned identification notches, and stacked reed dents of unlike thickness will have staggered identification notches relative to the aligned notches. Reed dents of different thicknesses are therefore immediately distinguished and can be easily sorted out.

An apparatus for guiding a weft or filling thread in the shed of a loom, the weft thread being driven by a flowing fluid medium, comprises two lamellae combs which can dip into and out of the warp threads. The lamellae or equivalent plate-like guide elements of the lamellae combs each possess a throughpass opening for guiding the weft thread and a thread exit or outlet opening. When the lamellae are in a position completely immersed in the shed they are interleaved or shoved into one another and form a guide channel for the weft threads, this guide channel being coherent or continuous in the weft insertion direction. Hence, the thread exit or outlet openings are sealed, so that the guide channel also is continuously closed in radial direction. The closed guide channel renders possible, on the one hand, a controlled flight of the weft thread, a reduced energy consumption and driving of the weft thread both by a blowing action and also by a suction action and, on the other hand, can be particularly advantageously employed at a multiple longitudinal traversing shed loom containing a weaving rotor.
