Abstract:
A portable hardwood floor system of interconnected floor sections supported in spaced relation over a substrate includes a plurality of mounts attached to the bottoms of each of the interconnectable sections. Each mount includes a resilient pad to resiliently support the portable floor system above the base and a glide member located below the pad. The glide members are substantially noncompressible under normal floor loading conditions and have a relatively low coefficient of friction with respect to the base. The glide members are slidable on the base to enhance maneuverability in positioning and aligning the interconnectable floor sections, thereby to facilitate interconnection of the sections to form the floor system. The glide members also protect the portable floor section and/or the base and are also sufficiently durable to withstand frequent handling commonly required of a portable hardwood floor system.

An insulating plate unit comprises a first engaging end and a second engaging end. The first fin extends longitudinally from an upper edge of the first engaging end and along a length of the upper edge. A first wing extends longitudinally from a lower edge of the first engaging end and along a length of the lower edge. The first wing extends to a distance greater than that of the first fin. The first wing has an inward facing surface and an outward facing surface. A channel is defined by the first fin and the first wing. A recess is formed in the outward facing surface and extends along the length of the lower edge of the first engaging end. A ridge is formed on the inward facing surface and extends along the length of the lower edge of the first engaging end. A groove is correspondingly formed in the second engaging end for engaging with the ridge of another insulating plate unit. The second engaging end is complimentary to the first engaging end so that the insulating plate units can be interconnected.
Abstract:
A process for making a laminated wood product includes sawing or sanding opposite faces of offcut wood strips, to prepare these faces for glueing with the strips in quartersawn orientation. The strips are also prepared by sanding or planing substantially parallel to the top and/or bottom surfaces of the strips. The strips are glued end-to-end and side-by-side to form a laminated plank having the strips in quartersawn orientation. The plank is finished to form a laminated quartersawn strip product which may be used for flooring, paneling, millwork or other purposes.
Abstract:
A unitized floor panel is formed having at least one row comprising a plurality of unattached wooden tiles assembled in generally abutting relation. A layer of pressure sensitive adhesive covers at least a portion of the upper surface of the tiles and is in turn covered by a flexible and removeable support and protective sheet which covers the adhesive and tiles. The adhesive bond formed between the sheet and the adhesive is stronger than the bond formed between the adhesive and the tile so that the sheet and adhesive can be easily stripped from each panel when desired. The wooden tiles can either be finished or unfinished and can be formed from acrylic wood tiles arranged in parquet fashion. The cover sheet is preferably formed from either transparent plastic film or paper having a printed design corresponding to the design and arrangement of the tiles onto which it is positioned. The sheet can include perforations to control cure rate of the sub-flooring adhesive onto which the panels are placed. A method of laying these panels includes preparing the sub-floor onto which the panels are to be placed, spreading adhesive between the panels and the sub-floor, placing the panels onto the sub-floor and applying pressure onto the panels so that they generally conform to the sub-floor before self-levelling occurs. After the panels are placed and pressed onto the sub-floor the adhesive layer and flexible sheet may be stripped away from the upper surface of the panels thereafter without using water or other preparations when desired.
Abstract:
A panel interconnectable with like panels for use in forming a sports surface has a substantially rectangular and planar member and an edge connector at at least one set of opposite edges including a first locking member extending from the lower surface of the panel at one edge and having a groove extending inwards from the end thereof and towards the one edge and terminating below the upper surface. A second locking member extending from the upper surface of the panel at the other edge, has a projection configured to engage in the groove to mate with the first locking member at the one edge of an adjacent panel to align the upper and lower surfaces of the panels. A plurality of these panels are advantageously assembled by the method according to the present invention to form a sports surface.
