    摘要: A locking wedge apparatus for fastening a printed circuit board within an elongated slot in a rack. The apparatus comprises a first member having an elongated, flexible portion terminating in first and second apertured end portions, the elongated and apertured end portions forming a rectangularly shaped channel. A rectangularly shaped member having a plurality of ramps formed along the edges of one surface is positioned in a U-shaped member having a plurality of ramps extending from the bottom wall thereof such that the ramps on each member are in engagement. The assembled U-shaped and rectangularly shaped members are positioned in the channel formed in the first member. A screw member extends lengthwise through said first apertured end portion, through a threaded aperture in said rectangularly shaped member and into said second apertured end portion. Rotating the screw in a forward direction causes the rectangularly shaped member to move along the ramp surfaces of the U-shaped member in a manner such that the elongated flexible portion of said first member is deflected transversely to lock the printed circuit board in place. The apparatus is designed such that a user can specify a desired side load and the corresponding U-shaped/rectangularly shaped combination selected such that the ramp angle therein provides the desired side load.

    摘要: A container in which are integral guides for slideably accepting opposite side edges of a sheet of material such as an electronic circuit board makes use of oppositely disposed cold walls in each of which are slots for reception of edges of the circuit boards. In each slot is a rotating camming bar for firmly fastening the corresponding edge of the board in good heat conducting relationship with the cold wall. Each cold wall features a single integral panel of metal having an inside face in which slots are aligned in parallel relationship. Each slot is formed by three successive passes of milling cutters, namely, a first cutter forming an initial channel of rectangular cross-sectional shape, followed by a second cutter productive of an arcuately recessed pocket in one wall of the initial channel. Thereafter a third cutter, when driven through the initial channel, is productive of an auxiliary T-shaped groove in the bottom wall of the initial channel. The auxiliary groove is cut at depth leaving a portion of original panel material between the crossbar of the T-shaped groove and the exterior surface of the panel. The T-shaped groove is for reception of a retention spring. The exterior surface of the panel may include preformed auxiliary heat dissipating fins.

The apparatus includes an elongated center wedge having sloped surfaces at its opposite ends and two end wedges abutting against the center wedge's opposite sloped surfaces. A screw interconnects the two end wedges, threadedly engaging a threaded bore in the remote end wedge. A friction nut is positioned on a portion of the screw's remote end that projects beyond the remote end wedge, and the apparatus is configured to include a pair of low-friction, abutting surfaces between the nut and the remote end wedge. This ensures that when the screw is fully loosened, the frictional torque applied to the nut by the end wedge is exceeded by the frictional torque applied to the nut by the screw. Further unthreading of the screw is thereby effectively inhibited.

    摘要: A retainer for retaining an electronic module, like a printed circuit card, in the slots of a cold plate or other holder, comprising a rail mounted to either the module or holder. An end wedge is fastened to one end of the rail so as to provide a stop for other, typically wedge-shaped bodies, slid onto the rail. Both the rail and wedge bodies are particularly configured so that the wedge bodies remain aligned, or are precluded from rotating about the rail or otherwise becoming misaligned. The present invention thus provides an easily assembled retainer, which avoids the use of specially manufactured free-floating screws.

    摘要: Method and apparatus are disclosed for selectively clamping the edges of electronic modules into mechanical and thermal contact with a fluid coolant circuit. A stack of plural substantially parallel and generally planar fluid conduit-containing structures having spaced apart parallel legs jointly receive a stack of plural generally planar electronic modules disposed transversely therewithin. Each of the fluid conduit-containing structures includes mechanical/thermal contact pads disposed approximately perpendicular to its general plane on the inside edges of the parallel legs with the pads on some of the structures being directed one way and those on others of the structures being directed in an opposite way. At least one such set of structures is then collectively moved so as to selectively clamp the edges of the stack of electronic modules between opposingly directed contact pads. A special type of fluid conduit-containing structure formed by bonding two or more elongated sheets of spring metal along the boundaries of mating indentations is preferably employed with at least portions along one edge of the bonded sheets comprising the structure being oppositely bent up into individual and/or into pairs of spring pads to realize the contact pads just discussed.

    摘要: Apparatus is disclosed for removably mounting a printed circuit card to a chassis adapted to support an array of circuit cards. Two jackscrews are rotatably mounted to each circuit card by a bracket at each end of a row of electrical pin contacts. Mounted to the chassis at each end of a row of female electrical contacts is an anchor with a jackscrew-receiving opening. Insertion of the jackscrews into the anchors aligns the pin and the female contacts and turning of the jackscrews into the anchors then causes the pin and female contacts to electrically engage. Each jackscrew carries an internally threaded crown and a plurality of ramps between the crown and bracket. Each ramp is movable longitudinally of the jackscrew and also laterally by virtue of a bore therethrough larger in diameter than the jackscrew. The crown is movable toward and away from the bracket. Adjacent ramps have oblique and parallel mating surfaces such that crown movement toward the bracket moves adjacent ramps in opposite directions laterally of the jackscrew, urging alternate ramps and the circuit card against opposing channel walls in the chassis to frictionally secure the circuit card in the chassis.
