    摘要: Continuous work-up of moist, phosphorus-containing residues, particularly of residues which originate from the filtration of yellow phosphorus or phosphorus-containing effluent water. To this end, intimate contact is produced, in an electrical precipitation zone adapted to free phosphorus furnace gas from dust, between the moist phosphorus-containing residue and hot dust originating from phosphorus furnace gas and covering the bottom portion of said electrical precipitation zone. Residue and dust are contacted in a quantitative ratio between 1 and 2. Resulting, substantially phosphorus-free residue is mechanically removed from the electrical precipitation zone together with dust precipitated from the phosphorus furnace gas, in the electrical precipitation zone. A phosphorus/water-mixture produced by vaporization of the moist residue is passed through the electrical precipitation zone and the mixture is introduced jointly with dust-free phosphorus furnace gas coming from the precipitation zone into a condensation zone placed downstream of the precipitation zone, wherein the mixture and dust-free phosphorus furnace gas are precipitated.

The apparatus of this invention includes a gas fired heating unit which heats up sufficient quantities of air to a temperature in excess of the dew point and directs this heated air into an exhaust duct of the recovery furnace and/or into a dust collection device, such as an electrostatic precipitator, located downstream of the recovery furnace. The introduction of heated air into the system may also be utilized to preheat the duct work and precipitator prior to initial operation of the recovery furnace to avoid condensation in a cold system during start-up.

    摘要: A method for separating dust from a gas and a gas-scrubber in which droplets of a liquid which is evaporable in the milieu prevailing in the gas are mixed with the gas, and in which the droplets ejected into the gas are electrically charged and are brought to a potential such that the surface charge density of the droplets substantially corresponds to an electric field strength equalling the brakedown field strength of the gas. The droplets thus charged and while carried by the gas are passed with the gas through a gas flow zone in which the droplets are exposed to evaporation, to cause a self-maintained discharge of the electric charge of the droplets due to a tendency of increase of field strength in the vicinity of a droplet as the droplets are diminished during evaporation. Thereby the charges carried by the droplets are transferred to the dust particles carried by the gas and thereafter the gas carrying the particles thus charged and any remaining droplets, are passed through an electric filter for separating the dust particles thus charged from the gas.

    摘要: Oil is removed from hot effluent gas by cooling the gas, scrubbing the gas in two stages, removing entrained droplets in a demister and introducing the gas into an electrostatic precipitator. After the gas leaves the electrostatic precipitator, approximately 99 percent, by volume, of the oil is removed from the gas and the gas is rendered substantially invisible. The gas is thus in a condition to be returned to the atmosphere. The apparatus consumes little energy and is relatively maintenance free in operation. A portion of the water used in a heat exchanger for cooling the gas may be used in the two scrubbing stages and recycled within the system.
