    Abstract: Presented herein is a method of extending a recording in a media content receiver of a media event that is delayed. In the method, a recording of media content is begun at an expected start time for the media event based on a recording timer, wherein the recording timer indicates the expected start time and an expected end time for the media event. After beginning the recording, the media content being recorded is analyzed to determine an actual start time for the media event. The actual start time is then compared with the expected start time. If the difference between the actual start time and the expected start time exceeds some predetermined value, the expected end time is adjusted to extend the recording. The recording is then ended at the adjusted end time.

    Abstract: Various embodiments of apparatus and/or methods are described for skipping, filtering and/or replacing content from an audio/video stream using text data associated with the audio/video stream.     Abstract: This invention provides a method of generating multiple frequencies for use in a digital data transmission system including a remote transmitter and receiver. The reference frequency used in the transmitter is replicated in a remote receiver. A single crystal oscillator is used to generate a reference frequency similar to that used in the transmitter. The receiver reference frequency is manipulated by dividing the frequency into required multiple frequencies for use within the receiver. A constant comparison is made between the clock signal received in the transmitted data stream with the receiver reference frequency and the divisors are adjusted accordingly to maintain the clock frequency in the receiver within a predetermined tolerance range. This allows the output signal for display from the receiver to match the quality of the input display provided to the transmitter.

    Abstract: An improved system for the integration of off-air and satellite TV tuners in a direct broadcast system, comprising a source of an RF television signal, a TV tuner coupled to the RF signal source for demodulating the RF signal and producing baseband video and audio signals, a satellite antenna for receiving a data stream including direct broadcast satellite signals, a direct broadcast satellite tuner coupled to the satellite antenna for converting and demodulating the incoming signals to video and audio baseband output signals. A controller is provided for the selection of the desired program channel from the guide and the automatic switching of the appropriate video and audio baseband signals and the signal source for the selected program. The user programs the zip code into the system for localizing the electronic programming guide used in the selection process.
