    摘要： A network memory system comprises a first appliance and a second appliance. The first appliance receives data and determines whether a portion of the data is locally accessible to the second appliance. The first appliance generates an instruction based on the determination and transfers the instruction to the second appliance over a communication network. The second appliance receives the instruction from the first appliance over the communication network and processes the instruction to obtain the data. The second appliance then transfers the data to a computer.

    摘要： Methods and apparatus for in-residence care are disclosed. The methods and apparatus enable a remote care provider to configure a home with a home controller and a plurality of medical and non-medical sensors based on the results of a periodic assessment survey. The remote care provider may also download software to the home controller to allow a new sensor to be connected to the home controller. The remote care provider then monitors data from the sensors electronically and provides services based on the assessment survey. Periodically and/or based on alerts generated in response to the monitored data, the remote care provider conducts virtual visits to the home using an audio/video telecommunications system. A home care provider or other professional may also conduct an actual visit to the home, and data associated with the actual visits may be recorded by the remote care provider.

    摘要： Communicating voice over a packet-switching network is implemented on a telecommunications network that includes the packet-switching network, two coding units coupled to the packet-switching network and to an originating node and a terminating node, respectively, and at least one signaling apparatus. The first of the two coding units is configured to extract signaling data associated with the voice call and transmit the signaling data and its network address to the signaling apparatus. Signaling data for establishing the voice call is received by the signaling apparatus, and a network address of the first coding unit in the packet-switching network is obtained. The second coding unit is controlled to establish a bearer channel with the first coding unit for carrying the voice data through the packet-switching network, based on the network address.
