摘要： A transcutaneous iontophoretic drug applicator, which includes an array of reservoirs which are electrically insulated from one another, some of which contain the drug to be administered. The applicator further includes a partially electrically conducting layer, preferably formed of two portions, each segments corresponding to an electrode, which overlies and contacts the reservoirs, and electrodes which overly and contact the partially electrically conducting layer. An electrical power source supplies power to the electrodes and causes the drug to be pushed out of the reservoirs and into the skin. The applicator is designed to keep the local current flux below threshold irritation and burn levels regardless of variations in electrical skin resistance.

摘要： A dental flosser unit for flossing teeth includes a filament of high tensile strength terminating in thickened portions at its opposite ends. In the same described embodiments, each thickened end portion includes a ferrule enclosing and crimped to the respective filament end, and a plastic body enclosing the ferrule and the respective filament end. The filament preferably includes a plurality of threads of high tensile strength coated with a low-friction material. In another described embodiment, a plastic material is injection-molded onto each end of the filament at a temperature greater than 280.degree. C. to melt the coating and to bond directly to the threads. A further embodiment is described in which the thickened end portion is constituted of a two-part bead having complementary socket and plug formations for firmly clamping the filament.

When the device is used as a nebulizer the hollow conical tube includes a plurality of holes at vertically spaced locations, and a plurality of annular discs secured to the outer surface of the conical tube each underlying one or more of the holes.

摘要： An electrolytic dispensing device includes a first contractible chamber for receiving a liquid to be dispensed, and a second contractible chamber for receiving a gas to control the rate of dispensing of the liquid from the first chamber. An electrolytic cell generates a gas which is fed to the second chamber to dispense liquid from the first chamber in accordance with the electrical current conducted through the electrolytic cell. The electrolytic cell includes a partition of an ion-permeable, but gas-impermeable, material separating its two electrodes. The partition is effective to permit gas generated at one electrode to be fed to the second chamber, and to block from the second chamber gas generated at the other electrode, and thereby to prevent the formation of a hazardous mixture of gases.

The displaceable partition includes a piston assembly having a pair of pistons spaced apart by a connecting stem, the container being formed with a vent opening in the space between the pistons to prevent accidental mixing of the gas with the liquid to be dispensed.

摘要： A depilatory device for removing body hair comprises a manually-grippable housing and a hair-plucker body supported in an arcuate position and rotated by a motor within the housing. The hair-plucker body is formed with gaps which open at the convex side and close at the concave side during the rotation of the body in order to catch, pluck and eject hair on the surface over which the body is moved. 摘要： The invention includes a cigarette like device which enables the user to experience the taste and aroma as well as the tactile sensations of smoking a tobacco cigarette--but without the presence of smoke, without any combustion, and without inhalation of harmful carcinogenic substances (e.g. tars) into the user's lungs. The device consists of a plastic mouthpiece containing a plug of chewing tobacco connected to a plastic tube with an axial duct, extending to a sealed end, where there is located a pumping member in the form of a flexible accordion-like, or bellows-type configuration or a spring-loaded ball or position. In a further embodiment, the device consists of a conventional mouthtip filter, or a tubular body with a flexible collapsible side wall sealed at the far end, and a tobacco insert. In the device, repeated suction cycles by the user are utilized to initially draw the user's saliva through the tobacco insert to flavor it with nicotine, and then to recirculate this saliva back to the user's mouth on successive suction cycles, allowing the user to taste and smell the nicotine. Inserts other than tobacco can be used in the device (e.g. menthol, various medications and the like).

摘要： A massaging appliance for massaging the face or other part of the body, comprises a housing enclosing an electrical motor, and a cream applicator having a chamber for containing a supply of cream to be applied during massaging. The applicator has a cylindrical side wall closed at one end by a first end wall to be placed in contact with the respective part of the body to be massaged, and closed at its opposite end by a second end wall coupled to the motor to be driven thereby. The first end wall is formed with a plurality of openings each occupied by a ball rotatably mounted therein for dispensing cream to the contacted part of the body, and the second end wall is formed with a central threaded opening. A piston is disposed within the applicator and includes a threaded stem receivable in the threaded opening of the second end wall enabling the piston to be adjusted, to contract or enlarge the chamber, by rotating the applicator side wall with respect to its second end wall.
