Abstract: An ultrasound imaging system which uses multiline receive beamforming for synthetic transmit focusing are phase adjusted to account for speed of sound variation in the transmission medium. The phase discrepancy of the received multilines caused by speed of sound variation in the medium is estimated in the frequency domain for both the transmit angular spectrum and the receive angular spectrum. The phase variation is removed in the frequency domain, then an inverse Fourier transform is used to transform the frequency domain results to the spatial domain. In another implementation, the phase discrepancy of the received multilines is estimated and corrected entirely in the spatial domain.

Abstract: A system for visualization and quantification of ultrasound imaging data according to embodiments of the present disclosure may include a display unit, and a processor communicatively coupled to the display unit and to an ultrasound imaging apparatus for generating an image from ultrasound data representative of a bodily structure and fluid flowing within the bodily structure. The processor may be configured to estimate axial and lateral velocity components of the fluid flowing within the bodily structure, determine a plurality of flow directions within the image based on the axial and lateral velocity components, differentially encode the flow directions based on flow direction angle to generate a flow direction map, and cause the display unit to concurrently display the image including the bodily structure overlaid with the flow direction map.

Abstract: Systems and methods for suppressing off-axis sidelobes and/or clutter, near-field reverberation clutter, and/or grating lobe contributions are disclosed. A dual apodization with median (DAM) filtering technique is disclosed. The dual apodization technique may include summing aligned channel data with apodization functions (406, 412, 414) with complementary apertures applied. Median values for a zero function (RF3) and the resulting signals (RF1, RF2) from the complementary apertures are determined to generate a median value signal (416, MVS). The median value signal is used to generate an ultrasound image with enhanced image contrast. A method of image smoothing of the ultrasound image with enhanced image contrast is also disclosed. The smoothed image may include low frequency components of the ultrasound image with enhanced image contrast and high frequency components of an original image.

Abstract: A method in accordance with the present disclosure may include transmitting a plurality of ultrasound pulses toward a medium from a transducer array, wherein the plurality of ultrasound pulses includes a sequence of a Doppler burst (10-1, 10-2) comprising a plurality of unfocused first pulses (12) and a B-mode burst comprising one or more second pulses (13). The method may further include detecting echoes responsive to the transmitted sequence, wherein the detecting includes simultaneously detecting, within a field of view, FOV, of the array, a set (14-1, 14-2) of first echoes responsive to the plurality of unfocused first pulses (12), generating Doppler data from signals representative of the set (14-1, 14-2) of first echoes, generating B-mode image data from signals representative of echoes responsive to the one or more second pulses (13), and simultaneously displaying the Doppler data and B-mode image data.

Abstract: The invention provides a method for generating an ultrasound image. The method includes obtaining ultrasound data from an ultrasonic transducer array, the ultrasonic transducer array having M transducer elements. The method further includes generating N sets of image data from the ultrasound data using N random apodization functions. A minimizing function is then applied to a collection of image data, wherein the collection of image data comprises the N sets of image data. An ultrasound image is then generated based on the minimized image data.

Abstract: Systems, devices, and associated methods including: emitting ultrasound to the subject and receiving, in response, a current ultrasound view; matching the received image to a pre-existing image, such as a three-dimensional reference image; and, for user assistance, generating, based on the matching, feedback for the guidance. The reference image may be a statistical atlas or it may be derived from patient-specific CT or MR scans. The pre-existing image may instead be a database image corresponding to a state in a state space. The feedback can be an image derived from the reference image; a graphic indication of a plane of the target view; the received view fused to an image derived from the reference image; or the received view and an image derived from the reference image, the derived image appearing concurrently and enhanced to spatially indicated where the received view registers to the reference image.

A control module (124) is stored in memory and configured to interpret the ultrasonic energy received from the probe and from the marker device at the probe to determine a three dimensional location of the medical instrument to highlight a position of the marker device in an image.
