    摘要： A liquid crystal display element characterized by having an orientation controlling film containing a uniformly dispersed spacer therein on one inside surface of electrode substrates shows only a slight deviation in changes of the distance between the two electrode substrates even in the case of a large-size element. Such a liquid crystal display element can be produced by coating a mixture of a film forming material, a spacer and a solvent on one surface of an electrode adhered to one substrate, dried and baked, followed by conventional display element producing procedures.

    摘要： An image display device according to the present invention comprises a back panel on which a plurality of pixels each having a thin film electron emitter are arranged two-dimensionally, a front panel disposed opposite the back panel on which phosphor layer is formed, and a sealing frame with which the back panel and the front panel are fixed mutually to seal the plurality of pixels and the phosphor layer in a space enclosed by the back panel, the front panel, and the sealing frame, and is characterized in that double-layered signal lines each electrically connected to a group of the plurality of pixels are formed on the back panel, each of the double-layered signal lines consists of a lower-level electrode made from a silver paste and an upper-level electrode covering at least a part of the lower-level electrode laminated in this order on the back panel. The lower-level electrode is shaped e.g. by coating a groove formed in a surface of the back panel with the silver paste, and a surface of the upper-level electrode is used e.g. for an electrode of the thin film electron emitter, also. According to the configuration, the present invention reduces wiring resistance of the signal lines each electrically connected to the thin film electron emitters as well as improves planarity of each tunneling junction of the thin film electron emitters to suppress dispersion of electron emission property thereof among the pixels.

    摘要： It is an object to provide a liquid crystal display which reduces unsatisfactory display caused by distorted initial alignment direction in a liquid crystal alignment layer for IPS type displays, realizes stable liquid crystal alignment, is high in mass-productivity, and produces high-quality images of increased contrast ratio. The liquid crystal display contains alignment layers 109 placed between a pair of substrates 101 and 102, at least one of which is transparent, liquid crystal layer 110′ sealed between the alignment layers, common electrode 103 and source electrode 105 for applying an electrical field to the liquid crystal layer, thin-film transistors connected to each of these electrodes, polarizer plate 114 provided on at least one of the substrates, wherein at least one of the alignment layers 109 is composed of a photo-reactive polyimide and/or polyamic acid which can be provided with a liquid crystal alignment capacity by being irradiated with essentially linearly polarized light.
