    摘要: An apparatus for removing scratches and/or stains from a vehicle windshield includes a cylindrical sponge having a radial opening which is dimensioned to fit snugly over a windshield wiper blade with the windshield wiper arm connected to the blade through the radial opening in the cylindrical sponge. The methods of the invention include moistening the cylindrical sponge and applying a polishing abrasive to either the sponge, the windshield, or both, and activating the vehicle windshield wiper to wipe the abrasive on the windshield with the sponge. Other methods of the invention include impregnating the sponge with a polishing abrasive, and/or moistening the sponge with windshield washer fluid.

    摘要: The use of "limp", i.e. 70-durometer Ethylene Propylene Di-Monomer ("EPDM"), construction material for an auto windshield insert molding which is installed in the gap between the windshield and the oversized windshield opening by a method contemplating manual adjustment of the molding crown to any height variations while the stem of the molding is being engaged by urethane that is curing, such that previously required hold-down adhesive strips are obviated as were required when using flexible construction material that resisted manual adjustments of the crown. By eliminating hold-down adhesive strips there is no subsequent removal thereof required which inadvertently caused paint removal and other surface marring.

The window assembly is designed to be adhesively secured to the automobile body after being mounted on the peripheral flange. The window assembly includes a plurality of cup-shaped retention elements which have inner sides fixedly secured to the inner pierpheral surface of the window assembly. Each retention element has a resilient outer side, and a generally perpendicular, outwardly extending stem joined at one end thereof to the resilient outer side of each of the plurality of retention elements. The stem is inwardly deflectable about the joint formed at the one end thereof and the resilient outer side of the cup-shaped retention element. The stem includes a plurality of teeth for engaging the peripheral flange of the window aperture, thereby retaining the window assembly on the motor vehicle upon the application and curing of the adhesive.

    摘要: An apparatus for retaining a window panel on an outer surface of a flanged body panel of an automotive vehicle body is to be used with a curable adhesive. The apparatus utilizes a decorative trim portion adapted to bridge the space between the window panel and the flanged body panel while overlying both the outer surface of the window panel and outer metal frame of the vehicle body. The decorative trim includes a resiliently yieldable stem extruded integrally therewith and extending generally perpendicularly therefrom for insertion into the space between the window panel and the body panel. The stem includes extensions which extend generally radially outwardly therefrom and are adapted to project into the curable adhesive, thereby attaching the decorative trim portion to the vehicle body. A flange on the flanged body portion includes a plurality of holes communicating with the space between the window and the body. A plurality of retaining elements are attached to the inner surface of the flange. Each of the retaining elements has an interior portion thereof in communication with each of the openings in the flange for receiving the curable adhesive. The cross-section of this interior portion is greater than the cross-section of the openings in the flange whereby a mechanical interlock is formed between the curable adhesive, upon the curing thereof, and the inner surface of the flange.
