摘要: A keyboard having an input region that provides a set of input elements designed to complement a separate pointing device such as a computer mouse. These input elements enable both the dominant and non-dominant hand to work easily together to perform various functions, which in turn, makes “consumption” and “composition” tasks more efficient. The input region may be spaced laterally from the alphanumeric or “QWERTY” section of the keyboard. The elements include a scrolling member, first and second groups of keys, and an application switching device. The scrolling member may take the form of a rotatable member. The rotatable member may have an asymmetric outer profile and/or be frustum-shaped. The first group of keys preferably includes a Back key and a Forward key. The first group of keys and the scrolling member make performing “consumption” tasks more efficient. The second group of keys preferably includes a Cut key, a Copy key, and a Paste key. The application switching device is preferably configured to provide a command, when actuated, to move between open applications. The application switching device may be independently-actuable, and/or dedicated and labeled as an application switching device. Additionally, the application switching device may be movable for actuation in opposing directions. Exemplary embodiments of the application switching device include a toggle switch, a rotatable dial, a laterally slidable member, and one or two keys. The second group of keys, application switching device and the scrolling member make performing “composition” tasks more efficient.

摘要: A computer keyboard includes a frame, a grid of conductors located on the frame and forming a plurality of intersections, and a plurality of keys located above the plurality of intersections. Each key is associated with an intersection and configured to create an electrical connection between the conductors of the associated intersection during a key press. The keyboard further includes a base, a plurality of force sensors located between the base and the frame; and a microprocessor. The microprocessor has a plurality of conductor pins each in electrical contact with one of the conductors of the grid, and is also coupled to the force sensors so as to receive force data output from the force sensors.

摘要: Described herein is a multi-view display (based on spatial and/or temporal multiplexing) having an optimization mechanism that dynamically adjust views based upon detected state changes with respect to one or more views. The optimization mechanism determines viewing parameters (e.g., brightness and/or colors) for a view based upon a current position of the view, and/or on the multi-view display's capabilities. The state change may correspond to the view (a viewer's eye) moving towards another viewing zone, in which event new viewing parameters are determined, which may be in anticipation of entering the zone. Another state change corresponds to more views being needed than the display is capable of outputting, whereby one or more existing views are degraded, e.g., from 3D to 2D and/or from a personal video to a non-personal view. Conversely, a state change corresponding to excess capacity becoming available can result in enhancing a view to 3D and/or personal.

摘要: A method for displaying or capturing an image comprises directing an illumination beam onto a mirror of a highly resonant, mirror-mount system and applying a drive signal to a transducer to deflect the mirror. In this method, the drive signal has a pulse frequency approaching a resonance frequency of the mirror-mount system. The method further comprises reflecting the illumination beam off the mirror so that the illumination beam scans through an area where the image is to be displayed or captured, and, addressing each pixel of the image in synchronicity with the drive signal to display or capture the image.

摘要: Embodiments related to identifying and displaying portions of video content taken from longer video content are disclosed. In one example embodiment, a portion of a video item is provided by receiving, for a video item, an emotional response profile for each viewer of a plurality of viewers, each emotional response profile comprising a temporal correlation of a particular viewer's emotional response to the video item when viewed by the particular viewer. The method further comprises selecting, using the emotional response profiles, a first portion of the video item judged to be more emotionally stimulating than a second portion of the video item, and sending the first portion of the video item to another computing device in response to a request for the first portion of the video item without sending the second portion of the video item.

摘要: A “Concurrent Projector-Camera” uses an image projection device in combination with one or more cameras to enable various techniques that provide visually flicker-free projection of images or video, while real-time image or video capture is occurring in that same space. The Concurrent Projector-Camera provides this projection in a manner that eliminates video feedback into the real-time image or video capture. More specifically, the Concurrent Projector-Camera dynamically synchronizes a combination of projector lighting (or light-control points) on-state temporal compression in combination with on-state temporal shifting during each image frame projection to open a “capture time slot” for image capture during which no image is being projected. This capture time slot represents a tradeoff between image capture time and decreased brightness of the projected image. Examples of image projection devices include LED-LCD based projection devices, DLP-based projection devices using LED or laser illumination in combination with micromirror arrays, etc.

摘要: A user notification system and a computer input device, such as a mouse. The computer input device includes an illumination member that enables a user to quickly and accurately position the input device during poor lighting conditions and determine whether the computer is ON. The input device includes a housing and an illumination device that is supported by the housing. Illumination from the illumination device is visible when the input device is placed on a support surface. The illumination member is also used to notify the user if one or more of various events have occurred in a computer application being run on the computer. The notification information is presented to the user by changing the state of the illumination member. An example of event for notification includes the receipt of a message in a communications program such as an e-mail message. The notification can make the illumination member blink as a function of the number of messages received. This enables information to be conveyed to the user without the need for text or audio, and without the need to view the computer monitor.
