Abstract:
A touch-sensitive display includes a sense electrode comprising a first conductor having a first elongate edge and a second elongate edge that is longer than the first elongate edge, and a second conductor having a third elongate edge and a fourth elongate edge that is longer than the third elongate edge, wherein the first conductor is coupled to the second conductor and spaced from the second conductor such that a first distance from an end of the second elongate edge to an end of the fourth elongate edge is less than a second distance from an end of the first elongate edge to an end of the third elongate edge. The touch-sensitive display also includes a drive electrode spaced from the first conductor and the second conductor and extending between the first conductor and the second conductor.
Abstract:
Magnetic fastener apparatus and related methods are disclosed herein. An example electronic device includes a first housing coupled to a second housing to define a cavity. A latch is coupled to the first housing, and a frame defining an opening is coupled to the second housing. A biasing element is positioned in the opening of the frame and a fastener is at least partially disposed in the opening. The fastener moves between a locked position via the biasing element to engage the latch and an unlocked position via a magnetic field to cause the fastener to disengage the latch. The latch and the frame are positioned inside the cavity when the first housing is coupled to the second housing.
Abstract:
These teachings provide for automatically using content from a received text-based message to identify at least one context-relevant emoticon and then automatically displaying that context-relevant emoticon such that a user can select the context-relevant emoticon to include in a text-based response to that received message.
Abstract:
Improved location estimates for transceivers is described. The location estimate of transceivers can be improved for sector transceivers that are co-located at a sectored cell site. The location estimate for each individual co-located sector transceiver can be updated as a centroid of all of the co-located sector transceivers. The location information of the transceivers can be used to provide network location estimation to mobile devices which do not have accurate positioning estimates.
Abstract:
Systems, apparatuses, and methods for uplink timing maintenance in wireless communications are provided. Certain aspects of the disclosure involve, at a user equipment (UE), detecting a downlink transmission timing has changed by an amount of time. The UE may determine that a time alignment timer (TAT) is not running or determine the downlink transmission timing change is not compensated for. The UE can adjust a timing advance based on the amount of time that the downlink transmission timing has changed.
Abstract:
A computer-implemented method of generating a presentation in accordance with a theme defining the graphical appearance and layout of the presentation is provided. The method comprises generating a test image for display on an external display, capturing a digital image of the test image displayed on the external display, digitally analysing the captured digital image, selecting the theme for the presentation based on the analysis, and, generating the presentation in accordance with the selected these. An electronic device and computer program product are also provided.
Abstract:
A device and method for preventing false-actuation of a touch screen are provided. When one or more of: (a) an initial proximity event occurs at a proximity sensor of he device, and (b) a reorientation event occurs at an orientation sensor of the device: touch data received via a touch screen of the device is buffered in a memory of the device. Thereafter, a processor of the device: processes the buffered touch data when a further proximity event does not occur within a given time period; and, disables the touch screen when the proximity event occurs within the given time period.
Abstract:
Devices and methods are provided for device-assisted interference management in heterogeneous wireless network environments. A mobile station (MS) assists a serving access point (AP) in assigning radio resources according to the interference management capabilities of the MS, the serving AP, and one or more neighboring interfering APs on the downlink, or alternatively, to one or more neighboring APs with interfering mobile stations on the uplink.
Abstract:
The present disclosure provides a user interface for a digital camera such as a digital camera built into a smartphone or other multipurpose portable electronic device. The user interface simultaneously displays an electronic viewfinder image and at least one other image such as a previously captured image. The previously captured image is located within the electronic viewfinder image. Designated input causes the previously captured image to be enlarged from an initial size to an enlarged size.
Abstract:
An apparatus, system, and method for authorizing endpoints of a push pathway for push notifications are described herein. In one example embodiment, an identity provider element authenticates a first endpoint of the push pathway, determines an authentication token associated with the first endpoint, and determines a channel identifier in response to a successful validation of the authentication token associated with the first endpoint. In this embodiment, the identity provider element also authenticates a second endpoint of the push pathway, determines an authentication token associated with the second endpoint, and determines a handle for the push pathway in response to a successful validation of both the authentication token associated with the first endpoint and the authentication token associated with the second endpoint. The push pathway is established for transmission of push notifications from the first to the second endpoint upon establishing the handle for the push pathway.
