Abstract:
A roller mill for grinding particulate material such as for example cement raw materials, cement clinker and similar materials, said roller mill comprising a mill housing enclosing a grinding table and a set of rollers rotatable about a vertical shaft. The set of rollers are configured for interactive operation with the grinding table and comprising a number of rollers each rotating about a roller shaft which is connected to the vertical shaft via a hinged connection with a center of rotation which allows a free circular movement of the roller in upward and downward direction in a plane comprising the centerline of the roller shaft. The center of rotation of the hinged connection in a vertical plane is located under the centerline of the roller shaft. The grinding table is rotatable about the vertical shaft and the roller mill may include mechanisms or devices that are sized and configured to introduce gases into the mill housing and may also include mechanisms or devices configured to allow for continuously diverting ground material suspended in gases out of the mill housing.
Abstract:
In a vertical roller mill including a fixed classifier, a proportion of coarse particles in a pulverized coal product is reduced. The vertical roller mill (10) includes a cyclone-type fixed classifier (20A) provided within a casing (11) for classifying fine powder having a small particle diameter by centrifugal force and discharging the classified powder to the outside. The fixed classifier (20A) is adapted to discharge the fine powder to the outside from a pulverized coal outlet (16) at an upper side through a lower end portion of an inner cylinder (24) provided inside a cone (21) by introducing a solid-gas two-phase flow into the inside from a fixed vane inlet window (22) opened on the cone (21) and swirling the solid-gas two-phase flow using a fixed vane (23) arranged in the vicinity of the inner side of the fixed vane inlet window (22). A deflector (26) is provided in the vicinity of the fixed vane inlet window (22) for strengthening the solid-gas two-phase flow delivered into the inside of the cone (21) from the fixed vane inlet window (22) in the downward direction.
Abstract:
The invention provides a method of improving an existing pulverizer mill by provision of an improved port ring located around the circumference of a grinding ring of the mill for common rotation therewith. The conventional port ring has openings separated by thin vanes. The improved port ring has wider openings now separated by lands. The wider openings can pass more unground materials back through the port ring as rejected material but the overall air mass flow can be kept unchanged.
Abstract:
A grinding system includes a mill housing. A milling unit in the housing has a moveable milling member operable to grind coal. A drive system includes a drive shaft and at least one gear in a gear case drivingly connecting the milling member to the drive shaft. An exhauster is operable to draw air into the housing through an inlet and draw a mixture of air and powdered coal out of the housing through an outlet. A pressurization system is operable to maintain the gear case pressure at a higher pressure than an air pressure in the housing. In one method of grinding coal a gear case pressure is maintained at a pressure higher than a pressure at the housing inlet while the milling member grinds coal into a powder and the exhauster draws a mixture of powdered coal and air out of the housing.
Abstract:
A primary classifier (300) particularly suited for use in a bowl mill (10) of the type that is employed for purposes of effecting the pulverization of materials such as coal is provided by the present invention. The primary classifier (300) includes a vane wheel portion (360) affixed to the periphery of the rotatable grinding surface (14) of the bowl mill (10) so as to extend circumferentially around the entire interior of the substantially closed separator body (12) of the bowl mill (10). The primary classifier (300) further includes a low profile deflector portion (380) mounted within the interior of the substantially closed separator body (12) of the bowl mill (10) in closely spaced relation to the circumference of the rotatable grinding surface (14) at an elevation below the elevation of the grinding journal openings (205) and so as to extend continuously without interruption about the entire interior of the substantially closed separator body (12) of the bowl mill (10).

Abstract:
A bowl mill for a coal pulverizer with an air mill for primary entry of air, comprising a substantially closed separator body (2) having a central axis; and a bowl-like grinding table (3) mounted on a shaft (4) rotatable about said central axis, cooperating with a plurality of grinding rolls (6). The airmill is provided with multiple entry openings (17′,17″; 18′, 18″; 21, 25) on the outer wall of the air mill for multiple entry of hot primary air from the inlets, resulting in better uniformity in air flow around the air mil section and for minimizing formation of eddies and vortices. As a variation of the multiple entry double entry openings can be arranged for entry of hot primary air.
Abstract:
A high efficiency bowl mill (100) is provided by the present invention. Included in the high efficiency bowl mill (100) is a plow (185) that is downstream of a grinding roll (180) on a grinding surface (145). The plow (185) loosens material that has been compacted by the grinding roll (180). Also included is a deflector (165) that redirects an air stream so as to pick up material loosened by the plow (185) and deposit material requiring further grinding. An outlet (201) of an inverted cone (200) is positioned so as to deposit material for pulverization on the grinding surface (145) and to restrict the air stream from entering the inverted cone (200).
Abstract:
A deflector disposed immediately above and outboard of a rotating vane wheel in a pulverizer/classifier is protected from wear and abrasion by side-by-side abutting high-hardness wear plates having an alloy content of approximately 15 percent chromium and three percent molybdenum by weight. The abutting edge surfaces of the wear plates are mitered. For pulverizers/classifiers having discontinuous deflectors, end plates are disposed over the end surfaces of the deflector segments and are serrated. Inside threaded fasteners are used to hold the wear plates in place over the lower surface of the deflector.
