    摘要: A static classifier cage is formed in upper and lower tiers of circumferentially spaced bar-shaped vanes of wear-resistant material. The lower tier is formed by and between a bottom ring and an intermediate ring. The top tier is formed by and between the intermediate ring and a topmost ring. In each tier, the lowermost ring is provided with slots to receive and act as a seat for the vertically oriented vanes while the upper ring in the tier is provided with radially outwardly opening notches into which the vanes are moved in a radial fashion. After the vanes are installed, a retainer is fastened into position to prevent the vanes from backing out of the notches.

    摘要: A deflector disposed immediately above and outboard of a rotating vane wheel in a pulverizer/classifier is protected from wear and abrasion by side-by-side abutting high-hardness wear plates having an alloy content of approximately 15 percent chromium and three percent molybdenum by weight. The abutting edge surfaces of the wear plates are mitered. For pulverizers/classifiers having discontinuous deflectors, end plates are disposed over the end surfaces of the deflector segments and are serrated. Inside threaded fasteners are used to hold the wear plates in place over the lower surface of the deflector.

    摘要: A variable orifice valve for balancing the flow of particulate coal in an airstream relative to other parallel conduits. The valve comprises a section of conduit which changes in area along its flow axis and a variable position valve element mounted within the conduit section. The valve element has a shape which proximates that of the conduit section and is movable axially to vary the annular area of the flow path around the valve element. There is no valve seat and, therefore, the valve is always open to some degree.

The improved vane is designed such that its lower end extends below the classifier cage inlet when the vane is mounted in the inlet. In a preferred form, the vane has a generally trapezoidal shape with a longer lower edge. The vane is additionally bent or curved over a major portion to direct coal tangentially toward the surface of the classifier cone.

    摘要: An improved coal pulverizer classifying system in which the feedpipe and classifier cone are provided with extensions to protect coal flow into the pulverizer from the annular fine-lifting airflow from the pulverizer throat. The feedpipe and cone extensions replace traditional intermittent discharge structure, improving flow through the classifier system and reducing the disruptive effects of the discharge on the annular flow from the pulverizer throat. An adjustable classifier venturi is also provided to adjust the exit angle and exit velocity of the fines leaving the classifier cone by the combustion delivery chute.

Clearing mechanisms are provided for both the sizing/segregating grid and the debris separating grid. The clearing mechanism for the debris separating grid is preferably a rotating clearing comb having arcuate fingers yieldably mounted to a rotating axle shaft. The arcuate fingers are preferably adjustably tensioned to the axle shaft.

    摘要: A self-cleaning size-segregating grid for a coal crusher has two parallel clearing combs made up of rigid steel fingers which rotate through the grid bars to clear jammed materials therefrom. The propeller-like fingers are preferably staggered in angular orientation on their respective shafts. The shafts are spaced so that the swept volumes of the fingers overlap. A surge detector senses drive motor current as an indication of stall or incipient stall and automatically reverses the direction of rotation of the clearing combs.
