    摘要： A closure accommodating internal pressure build-up in a container. The closure includes a cover, the top wall of which which is provided with a small orifice. A flexible plastic film lid or patch is sealed over the orifice by sealant such as adhesive or heat-seal. The patch may also be sealed by welding. The sealant may be pressure sensitive. When pressure within the container reaches a predetermined level, a small channel will form in the patch and gases will be released. The orifice may include pre-formed V-shaped venting notches in its top edge to direct gas-pressure.

    摘要： A carbonated beverage package comprising a container having an opening with a peripheral lip defining a free edge, and a downwardly and outwardly inclined sealing surface spaced from the free edge of the peripheral lip. A closure of plastic material, such that it will flex in thin cross section, is provided with an annular wall, a radial wall engaging the free edge of the peripheral lip of the container, and a transverse wall defining a convex surface facing inwardly of the container. The closure has a downwardly and outwardly inclined integral annular sealing surface at the juncture of the axial wall and transverse wall which engages the sealing surface of said container and places the axial wall under tension. The closure has a pressure relief rib at the juncture of the radial wall and axial wall such that axial force in the area overlying the rib will move a portion of the annular sealing surface of said closure away from the sealing surface of said container so that the pressure in the container can be relieved through a pressure relief opening through to the atmosphere and the closure can therafter be readily removed from the container.

    摘要： A pre-bulged, frangible member and a relief device employing the frangible member is described. The member has a pre-determined burst pattern that is relieved into its crown which insures that no portion of the member is severed from the member when it fails. The basic pattern uses radial slits extending from the periphery of the crown and terminating short of the center. The center portion of the crown is relieved with a pattern employing at least one non-rupturable, interconnecting web between the apex and the remainder of the member so that, on failure, this web retains the apex of the crown.
