Abstract:
This invention provides deformable low density trauma mitigation or pressure reducing composition comprising a viscous fluid and a plurality of macroparticulates and, optionally, microparticulates dispersed within the viscous fluid. The viscous fluid can comprise a water/oil emulsion, a glycerin/water mixture, a plasticizer or the like. In a further embodiment the composition comprises a viscous fluid and an enhancer which is a polytetrafluoroethylene-molybdenum disulfide combination.
Abstract:
A vehicle acoustic system is attachable over a vehicle interior sheet metal component. The system includes a bubble pack which has a first film layer and a second film layer secured to the first film layer, wherein the first and second film layers cooperate to form a plurality of pockets therebetween. The pockets include a gas disposed therein, such that the pockets are at least partially compressible. The bubble pack is adapted to be positioned in direct contact with the sheet metal component. The gas disposed in the pockets could be air or any other lightweight gas. A plurality of kinetic energy dissipating granules may be disposed within the pockets for enhanced noise isolation. Alternatively, damping liquids or gels may be disposed in the pockets. Various embodiments are described.
Abstract:
An improved vibration-free mounting system for sample cooling and low temperature and precision spectroscopy in which a closed-cycle helium refrigerator mechanism is to be mounted adjacent to a cold test chamber to enable efficient sample cooling. The system includes a first rigid support structure which receives and supports the refrigerator mechanism, and a second rigid support structure independently receiving and supporting a shroud having a cold test chamber for housing test samples on a sample holder. The second support structure is physically isolated from the first structure to prevent the transfer of vibrations therebetween, and the first and second structures are rigidly aligned with one another along a vertical axis. A gas envelope vibration isolating connection is provided between the refrigerator mechanism and the shroud for providing thermal communication for efficient sample cooling. The second support structure is preferably mounted on a vibration isolation table having a plate-like top supported by a volume of relatively loosely packed and dry granular material such as sand. The shroud also preferably includes a flange for enabling rigid mounting of the spectrometer device adjacent the test chamber. The shroud can also comprise a removable lower section to facilitate access to the sample holder and various experimental setups.
Abstract:
A face shock absorber with a top and a bottom adapter, between which there is mounted a housing, and in it there are disposed a spindle and active elements disposed inside a chamber enclosed by a top and a bottom disk, the housing and the spindle, and underneath the bottom disk there are disposed springs. The top adapter is embraced by a two-stepped nut with external thread, screwed up to the housing, and through the two-stepped nut there pass keys. The working chamber is divided by intermediate sleeves into sections, in each of which there are disposed spherical heads, shaped in the external surface of the spindle. The active elements disposed inside the working chamber are balls. The springs are limited in their bottom end by a ring-shaped nut, and it is possible to use springs of the slotted type.
Abstract:
A vibration damped apparatus comprising a damping mass which is mechanically coupled to a member subject to vibration. The damping mass is formed from a elastic material throughout which a plurality of sub-masses are distributed. The sub-masses are relatively positioned so that the damping mass has different moduli of elasticity in tension and compression, so as to quickly dampen a broad frequency range of vibrations in the vibrating member. In a preferred embodiment, the vibrating member is a tubular post upon which vibration-sensitive optical components are mounted, the damping mass being disposed within a cavity in the post to damp vibrations of the post and optical components thereon.
Abstract:
A particle damping assembly designed provides enhanced vibration control, especially for use with sound systems. The assembly comprises a housing encompassing multiple containers. Each container is designed to hold particles of varying sizes that contribute to the particle impact damping effect, offering improved sound quality by mitigating unwanted vibrations.
