If a user is not familiar with the operation for a developer supply container, the rotating operation for the developer supply container may be insufficient, so that developer supply container does not reach a predetermined operating position, with the result of abnormal developer supply. By increasing a rotation load of a second gear which is in an operable connection with a drive gear member of the developer receiving apparatus by a function of a locking member, the developer supply container mounted to the developer receiving apparatus is rotated toward the supply position. After the developer supply container rotates to the supply position, the locking by the locking member is released, by which the rotation load applied to the second gear is reduced, so that drive transmission, thereafter, to the feeding member for developer supply is smooth.

A developer cartridge, developing unit, and image forming apparatus are provided. The developer cartridge includes a cartridge cabinet including a developer accommodate chamber, a supply opening, and a return opening. The developer cartridge further includes a rotational shaft that is rotatably supported in the cartridge cabinet, a first agitating blade that is attached to the rotational shaft and that is located in a position opposed to the return opening, a distance from the rotational shaft to a distal end of the first agitating blade being shorter than a distance from the rotational shaft to the return opening, and a second agitating blade that is attached to the rotational shaft and that is located in a position opposed to the supply opening, a distance from the rotational shaft to a distal end of the second agitating blade being longer than a distance from the rotational shaft to the supply opening.

A toner container for containing toner includes a first side wall and a second side wall opposite to each other; a toner discharge hole; an agitator for agitating the toner, the agitator rotatable around an agitating shaft bridged between the first side wall and the second side wall; a bearing portion for supporting one end of the agitating shaft; a swing prevention portion for preventing the container from swinging; and a toner charging hole for charging toner into the container. The first side wall is formed with the bearing portion, the swing prevention portion, and the toner charging hole. The bearing portion is between the toner charging hole and the swing prevention portion on an outer surface of the first side wall.

In case of a developing density correction based on a test image (patch image) density, normally, the developing density is carried out in a short period of time by correction (γ correction) of a developing bias and a grid voltage (S11). When a correction amount of the γ correction exceeds an ordinary range, the γ correction (S11) and adjustment of toner concentration (magnetic permeability reference value) (S5) are carried out in combination. Furthermore, when the toner concentration is changed, the setting of a correction reference of the γ correction (γ correction TBL) and correction timing of the γ correction are accordingly changed (S6, S7). Therefore, in the developing density correction based on the test image density in the developing device using binary developer, it is possible to carry out the developing density correction, which is carried out in a short time, and whose correction width is wide, while maintaining the accuracy of a developing density adjustment.

A toner supply device includes: toner supply assembly for holding toner; and a toner supply assembly mounting mechanism having a housing for reserving toner supplied from the toner supply assembly and rotary parts for agitating the toner reserved in the housing. In this toner supply device, toner supplied from the toner supply assembly is fed to a developing unit after it being agitated. The toner supply device includes a multiple number of toner supply assemblies for storing toners of one color, wherein the housing is configured so as to reserve the toners supplied from the multiple toner supply assemblies in a single space, and the rotary parts mix and agitate the toners from the multiple toner supply assemblies.

An image forming apparatus includes an image forming mechanism configured to contain a developer and to form an image with the developer and a developer supplier configured to supply the developer to the image forming mechanism. The developer supplier includes a developer container, a conveyer, a sensor, an agitator, and a driver. The developer container contains the developer. The conveyer conveys the developer from the developer container to the image forming mechanism. The sensor is disposed at a predefined position on an interior wall of the developer container and detects the developer at the predefined position in the developer container. The agitator rotates to agitate the developer and includes a paddle formed in a plate-like shape and including an opening through which a part of the developer slips and avoids being paddled by the paddle. The driver drives the conveyer and the agitator at a variable speed.
