    摘要: A constant velocity joint for transmission of rotary motion between two angularly-displaceable shafts to maintain velocity of a driven shaft equal with a driving shaft regardless of the angular relationship of the two shafts. A ball-shaped member is rotatable about a first axis and is disposed and received in an outer member which is rotatable about a second axis. The ball-shaped member is fabricated from identical stamped metal halves which are welded together to form a hollow ball. Rotary motion is transmitted between the ball-shaped member and the outer member by diametrically opposed cam rollers which are rotatably supported on shafts which are fixedly attached to the outer member. The cam rollers engage flanges which extend inwardly from the edges of slots in the ball-shaped member. The outer member has a cup-shaped socket configuration which is complementally shaped to receive the ball-shaped member. The open end of the outer member includes an annular flange. The ball-shaped member is retained in the outer member by retaining rings which form an inner diameter smaller than the diameter of the ball-shaped member. The retention ring has an axially-extending lip which extends over the outer periphery of the annular flange of the outer member and the assembly is enclosed by a resilient boot seal.

    摘要: A constant velocity universal joint of the three-roller type employing a trunnion member carrying three drive rollers at a controlled torque arm distance from the axis of the member and drivingly disposed in respective drive tracks formed in a track member. The drive rollers are rotatably and axially shiftably carried on respective trunnions of the trunnion member by means of improved two-way antifriction bearings, and the torque arm distance of the drive rollers is controlled by the configuration of the drive tracks. In one embodiment employing relative axial travel between the trunnion member and the track member the drive tracks are formed as arcs of a circle having a radius larger than the torque arm distance of the drive rollers, with the radius and torque arm having an optimum ratio range for most efficient joint operation. In another embodiment relative axial travel between the members is positively prevented by a centering device carried by the track member and operatively engaging the drive rollers carried by the trunnion member without interfering with the relative weaving of the axes of the members as the members rotate in driving relation with their axes angularly disposed.

    摘要: An assembly for internal biasing and axially retaining a constant velocity universal joint of the type having a cup-shaped member, a forked member, spindles received in rollers for rolling and sliding in races formed between the prongs of the forked member, the spindles being associated with a knoblike portion. The assembly assures a constant biasing force for maintaining the contact between the knoblike portion and the closed inner end wall of the forked member. The biasing force is exerted by a coil spring arranged between the knoblike portion and a retaining clip adapted to be secured onto the prongs of the forked member for effectively joining the cup-shaped member to the forked member. A push member is provided having a spherical cavity for contact with the knoblike portion at one end and a portion with an enlarged polygonal cross-section at its other end which extends through a corresponding hole in the retaining clip when the arms are being secured to the prongs and retracted when the other end portion is in alignment with the hole in the clip for guiding thereon. The apices of the portion having the polygonal crosssection latch the push member relative to the clip, and may be released by pivoting the forked member relative to the cup-shaped member which causes cam surfaces on the push member to rotate the push member into or out of alignment with the corresponding hole in the clip. In addition or alternatively fingers with latching teeth may be provided with an equal number of corresponding holes in the clip.
