摘要： A wet color image forming apparatus and method of using the same is provided. The wet color image forming apparatus includes a transfer belt, which is formed of a plurality of layers including a surface layer contacting a sheet of paper. A hardness of the surface layer is reduced by removing carbon from a material constituting the surface layer. The apparatus also includes a transfer roller which applies pressure to the transfer belt to transfer the color image formed on the transfer belt onto the sheet of paper.

摘要： In a case where a rotating speed of an intermediate transfer member is reduced during the process of image formation, carriers may adhere to a photosensitive member before the rotating speed of the intermediate transfer member stabilizes. To cope therewith, in changing an image formation speed in accordance with a conveying speed of a recording material on completion of primary transfer, a developing rotary is rotated so as to keep any developing device off a developing position. Consequently, a situation in which the carriers adhere to an image bearing member can be avoided. At the same time, stopping a charging operation of a charger enables a longer service life of the image bearing member.

In the image forming apparatus, the secondary transfer roller contacts with the intermediate transfer belt before exposing operations of the exposing unit are accomplished with respect to all colors of toner images in one print, and is retracted from the intermediate transfer belt before an exposing operation by the exposing unit with respect to a next print is commenced.

摘要： The present invention relates to a color image forming device for forming toner images of a plurality of colors on a medium, and is for improving second transfer efficiency from an intermediate transfer body to the medium. The device has image forming units (12-1 to 12-4) for forming the toner images of the plurality of colors on at least one image bearing body (14-1 to 14-4) by a plurality of developing units (22-1 to 22-4) respectively accommodating toner of different colors; an intermediate transfer body (24); primary transfer means (38-1 to 38-4) for primary transferring the toner images of the plurality of colors onto the intermediate transfer body sequentially for the respective colors; and secondary transfer means (45) for secondary transferring the toner images of the plurality of colors on the intermediate transfer body onto the medium. The image forming units form the toner images of the plurality of colors so that the potentials of toner layers transferred onto the intermediate transfer body (24) are progressively lower in the order in which the plurality of colors are transferred. Since the potential of the toner layer directly adhered to the intermediate transfer body is higher, the directly adhered toner layer becomes easier to be secondary-transferred, and thereby, the secondary transfer efficiency is improved and the reproducibility of the secondary color is improved.
