摘要： An image formation apparatus that includes: first to third image formation units provided in this order in a traveling direction of a transfer target medium; a detector configured to detect first to third correction patterns formed on the transfer target medium by the first to third image formation units, respectively; and a control unit programed to control image misregistration correction based on a result of detection by the detector. The control unit causes the first and third image formation units to form the first and third correction patterns on the transfer target medium, respectively. When an amount of image misregistration between the first correction pattern and the third correction pattern is less than a predetermined value, the control unit neither causes the second image formation unit to form the second correction pattern, nor executes the image misregistration correction.

摘要： An image forming apparatus includes a toner image forming unit, a transfer member, and a driving source. An execution unit corrects image misalignment on the basis of a detection result of a test one image when no toner image exists in a transfer portion. An input unit associates first and second containers of recording material with either first and second groups regarding characteristics of the recording material. A setting is possible in which, if the recording material stored in the container associated with the first and second groups is used for the image formation, the driving source is driven at first and second speeds. Whether to conduct the correction before the current image formation is determined depending on the group associated with the container in which the recording material on which the previous image formation is conducted is stored.

摘要： An image forming apparatus that suppresses occurrence of color shift in images transferred from image bearing members onto an intermediate transfer member. A surface of each of a first photosensitive drum and second photosensitive drums is charged. An exposure device, provided for each photosensitive drum, forms an electrostatic latent image by exposing an associated one of the charged photosensitive drums. A developing device, provided for each photosensitive drum, develops the electrostatic latent image with toner. An intermediate transfer belt friction-drives the photosensitive drums for rotation and has the developed images transferred thereon. Timing for exposing the second photosensitive drums is controlled based on a first surface distance from an exposure light irradiated position to a primary transfer position of the first photosensitive drum, and a second surface distance from an exposure light irradiated position of each second photosensitive drum to a primary transfer position thereof.

An image region database stores data characterizing a plurality of reference image regions, each reference image region having one or more associated system control parameters that are appropriate for use in printing the reference image region. The system control parameters can include parameters related to correcting color registration errors. The image region to be printed is compared with the reference image regions in the image region database, and a similar reference image region is selected. The image region is printed using the system control parameters associated with the selected similar reference image region.
