    摘要: A method of joining pipes in which a sleeve is placed over the adjacent ends of the pipes so as to overlap each pipe. The sleeve fits with clearance around the pipe ends. The ends of the clearance space are closed by inflating hollow sealing rings and then epoxy resin is injected into the clearance space to fill the space. The pressure of the epoxy resin composition is then raised to a pressure substantially greater than atmospheric and the pressure is maintained until the resin composition is set.

    摘要: Two coaxial metal pipes, whose confronting extremities are each provided with a plurality of peripheral ribs of staggered height separated by two or more peripheral grooves, are interconnected by a coupling sleeve of fiber-reinforced thermosetting resin subdivided into several coaxially interleaved and independently deformable cylindrical shells each terminating in a pair of internal beads engaged in a respective peripheral pipe groove. The shells, increasing in axial tensile strength from the innermost to the outermost one, are preferably separated from one another by interposed antibonding layers of thermoplastic resin. A resinous filler can be inserted between the pipe extremities for electrically insulating them from each other. The shells of the coupling sleeve can be formed by coiling resin-coated filaments around the pipe axis, advantageously with application of an antifriction layer on each inner shell before the thermosetting material thereof has been fully hardened.

    摘要: A pipe coupler utilized for connecting two sections of pipe to prevent the escape of gas from within the pipe through the joint therebetween. An annular coupling member comprises two end sections and an intermediate section therebetween, with the two end sections having an inside diameter substantially the same as the outside diameter of the pipe sections, while the inside diameter of the intermediate section is greater. The two pipe sections are disposed within the coupling member, with the joint positioned longitudinally within the intermediate section. The two pipe sections and the intermediate section form an annular space therebetween, and in this annular space is positioned an annular sealing gasket. The sealing gasket has an inside diameter substantially the same as the pipe outside diameter, and has a radially outwardly extension positioned therearound. The intermediate section has a pair of spaced apart openings, and filling plugs are sealingly disposed within these openings, and the plugs extend inwardly into the annular space. The gasket outwardly extension is positioned between the filling plugs. An adhesive sealant is disposed within, and substantially fills the annular space between the gasket and the coupling member. The adhesive sealant, which enters the annular space through the filling plugs, compresses the gasket against the two pipe sections to seal the pipe joint therebetween. Also included are means for preventing the sealant from leaking out of the annular space through the filling plugs.

    摘要: The structures of the present invention start with a basic hollow tube of any desired outer shape and made of paper, plastic or metal. When paper is used, it is vacuum impregnated with a plastic resin and oven baked to give it rigidity. The tube may also be covered with an ornamental veneer, if desired. The tubes are provided with suitable openings to receive matching counterparts fitting against the openings. Strong, rigid core members of wood, plastic or metal are positioned in the tubular members with the abutting portions of the core members interconnected. The structure is placed in a clamp to hold the parts together in proper position. Polyurethane is then poured into one end, the end is capped, and the structure is rotated to evenly distribute the polyurethane. The urethane sets at room temperature and expands as it sets to internally mold the members into a solid structure. The finished structure can be drilled, machined, or bolted to add features in the conventional manner.
