    摘要: This power supply device comprises a voltage regulating element, a constant-current source, first and second constant-current circuits, and a current switching circuit interposed between the first and second constant-current circuits and the constant-current source, and by comparing an input voltage with an output voltage to introduce constant current from the first constant-current circuit to the voltage regulating element when the input voltage is higher than the output voltage, while introducing the constant current from the second constant-current circuit to ground terminal when the input voltage is lower than the output voltage. Thus, a stabilized DC voltage may be produced from a DC voltage including a superposed AC signal without interfering with the AC communications signal.

    摘要: A modem or other data handling apparatus for connection to a transmission line includes an inductance simulation circuit for providing a low d.c. resistance to allow circulation of a line holding current, whilst presenting a high a.c. shunt impedance to the audio data tones on the line. The simulation circuit comprises two tranistors connected as a high gain amplifier across an input resistor in the modem/line coupling circuit amplifier via a capacitor and the amplifier applies tone signals across the input resistor to augment the tones thereacross. The conductive transistors also act as a low resistance connected across the input resistor for the passage of the line holding current. The simulation circuit acts, in effect, as an inductance, without the use of inductive components. The input resistor is effectively connected, in series with two zener diodes, across the line, and the series circuit receives the line voltage and produces therefrom positive and negative power supplies for energizing the entire modem. No further power supply is necessary.

    摘要: A ring-ground circuit in a telephone system comprises a control transistor that selectively receives base drive from a microprocessor and that has its emitter connected through a low voltage LED and through the series combination of the base-emitter junction of a switching transistor and its emitter resistor to ground. The LED has a sharp transition in its conduction characteristics when the voltage across it reaches a predetermined value which is a reference voltage. Conduction of the control transistor provides base drive to the switching transistor for causing collector current in the latter to initiate a ground-start condition in a relay coil that is connected to a central office battery voltage. When current in the switching transistor increases to a prescribed value, that is set by the LED reference voltage and the emitter resistor, conduction of the switching transistor is automatically controlled for limiting the maximum value of its collector current.

    摘要: A transistorized bridge rectifier circuit with overcurrent protection which can be integrated monolithically is used for joining to a two-wire telephone line to the electronic circuits of a telephone subscriber set connected thereto. The circuit includes a transistorized bridge having a circuit arranged in the manner of a Graetz bridge. Rather than using separate elements for overcurrent protection, the circuit uses the bridge circuit elements themselves as protection elements. Diodes or diode connected transistors are respectively connected between the base and collector of transistors in two arms of the Graetz bridge and the resultant circuit thus provides overcurrent protection without the need of additional protection elements.

The transistors belonging to the opposite sides of the bridge, the bases of which are respectively connected to the emitter and collector of the same controlled current gain transistor, are biased with the same base current which flows through the controlled current gain transistor.

    摘要: The present apparatus for controlling the application of telephone line power in a telephone set has obviated the requirement for a local source of power at the premises of a telephone customer. A data processor-based telephone set incorporating the present invention comprises a power supply having first and second voltage storage devices (C401, C402) which accumulate charge from the telephone line. First and second regulator circuits (410, 420) regulate the charging of the voltage storage devices and the power distribution to power-consumptive components of the telephone set during on-hook and off-hook switchhook conditions. A voltage threshold detector (301) actuates a power-down of power consumptive components including the data processor (210) when the power supply voltage falls below a particular threshold value. In the meantime, power is continuously provided to certain essential components such as the volatile memory (220) of the data processor. A telephone impedance switch (202) under data processor control intentionally increases the resistance of the telephone set so that the telephone line voltage delivered to the telephone set is increased, the increased voltage powering certain components of the telephone which require the higher voltage level for proper operation.

    摘要: A control circuit 16 that is responsive to voltage conditions on a cable pair transmission line for selectively disabling a battey charging circuit 12 operating off of line current comprises a resistor R5 and storage capacitor C2 connected in series across the line; a timing capacitor C1 connected between the cathode of a PUT (programmable unijunction transistor) and one wire 32 of the line; and a zener diode D1 between the PUT anode and one wire 32 for establishing a conduction threshold for the PUT. The resistor R5 and primary conduction path of a first bipolar transistor Q2, having its base connected to the PUT anode, are connected in series between the other wire 33 of the line and the charging circuit so that startup current for the charging circuit may be used for charging C2 when the charging circuit is disabled. Means is also included for driving the PUT gate voltage low and turning on the PUT in response to both high and low voltage conditions on the line. This dumps the C2 charge into C1, the latter discharing slowly for holding the charging circuit diasabled. A second bipolar transistor Q4 senses the charge voltage on C1 for decreasing the PUT gate voltage when the PUT conducts and for increasing the PUT gate voltage immediately prior to the control circuit enabling the charging circuit to draw line current in order to prevent on-off cycling of the latter on a long cable pair.
