    摘要： Unitary molded packaging tray carries individual portion cups and is nestable with tray of like configuration. Tray comprises substantially flat bottom wall with upwardly and outwardly flaring side wall extending from bottom wall. Individual compartments are constructed and arranged to receive portion cups, each compartment having bottom portion with spaced apart plateaus raised therefrom for supporting portion cup above bottom portion of compartment. At least one broad flat bottom wall segment extends between each adjacent pair of compartments and is contiguous with bottom portions thereof so that when trays filled with portion cups are stacked one above the other broad flat bottom wall segments of upper tray in stack rest upon outer periphery of portion cups in tray directly therebelow in stack.

    摘要： A molded packaging tray having a plurality of downwardly dished pockets for receiving soft, round, delicate articles such as apples, peaches and tomatoes, and a plurality of upwardly tapering posts. The pockets and posts are arranged so that when two or more trays are properly oriented in a stack the flat pocket bottoms of one tray rest on the flat post tops of the next lower tray in the stack, rather than resting on the fruit packaged in the next lower tray. The pockets are substantially circular in horizontal cross-section at their approximate midlevel between the pocket bottoms and the post tops to smoothly support the delicate fruit, and the pockets are without inwardly directed protrusions. The pockets below the approximate mid-level taper inwardly to join the pocket bottoms at a low angle not greater than about 55* from the horizontal to minimize the total height of the tray with respect to the diameter of the fruit packaged therein. Four reinforcing ribs are associated with each pocket below its mid-level, the ribs being outwardly convex in horizontal cross-section, and being joined to the pocket bottoms at their lower extremities and tapering upwardly therefrom to merge with the pockets. The pocket bottoms and the post tops are similar in shape and generally coextensive in size.

    摘要： Apparatus for producing stack of nested articles comprises first and second sets of plural molding dies mounted in alternating fashion for shifting motion along an endless path past an article molding station. The first and second sets of plural molding dies have anti-jamming steps which are different in location from one another. Mechanical stacker places molded articles in nested fashion one above other in order articles are delivered to stacker. Article handling structure transfers articles from molding dies to stacker in same order articles are formed. Mechanical stacker produces stack of nested articles with every even numbered article therein having been molded on first set of molding dies and every odd numbered article having been molded on second set of molding dies.

    摘要： Arrangement for bagging articles comprises frame with conveyor on frame for propelling articles along longitudinal path of travel. Supply of flexible bags is adjacent longitudinal path of article travel, and each bag of supply has closed and open ends with portion adjacent open end thereof secured to bag retainer on frame. Bags are singly inflated open into article-receiving position in longitudinal path of article travel so that closed end of each inflated bag is downstream of opened end thereof. Conveyor propels each article into inflated opened bag so that momentum of propelled article tears associated bag away from bag retainer which enables next bag of supply to be inflated into article-receiving position for next article on conveyor.
