A method for transmitting data in a transmitting device of a wireless network comprises transmitting one or more data packets to a receiving device via a reserved region comprising channel resources allocated by a coordinator, and transmitting channel time extension information for requesting channel time extension to the receiving device, in order to transmit the data packets on an unreserved region in which the coordinator does not allocate channel resources to any devices.

A method and apparatus for initiating a session in a home network system are disclosed. A method for initiating a session over a HDBaseT network includes transmitting, by an initiation entity, a session initiation request message for initiating the session to at least one session partner selected by the initiation entity over an Ethernet network, and receiving a session initiation response message acting as a response to the session partner over the Ethernet network. The session initiation request message includes a first source reference field for identifying the initiation entity and a second final target reference (FTR) field for identifying the at least one session partner.

A method of controlling the power consumption of a wireless station is disclosed. The present invention includes waking-up a coordinator in a sleep state, entering an awake state and if a signal for turning on a peripheral station is received in the awake state, transmitting an awake message to the peripheral station via a beacon signal during a beacon timeslot. Accordingly, the power consumption of a coordinator in a WPAN network may be reduced, power control by a peripheral station may be facilitated, and inefficient operation and management of the network may be prevented.

A method of channel assessment and channel searching in a wireless network is disclosed. The wireless network separately performs a channel assessment procedure and a channel searching procedure for channel change or another object. The channel assessment procedure is to measure a status or quality of a channel which is currently used in the wireless network. A coordinator of the wireless network designates a time interval for the channel assessment to notify other device of it. The channel assessment procedure may be performed periodically, and is preferably scheduled to allow other devices not to use the channel for the time interval which at least one device performs channel assessment.

The present invention relates to a handover method that a current coordinator transfers a coordinating function of controlling a network to a different device configuring the network. The present invention relates to a method of selecting an optimal device as a coordinator in selecting the different device using priority information decided by a prescribed evaluation reference. And, the present invention relates to a method of simplifying a procedure in a manner of transmitting relevant information together with a handover request message. In a wireless network including a coordinator, a secondary coordinator is decided in advance. If the coordinator is suddenly unable to perform a function, the present invention relates to a method of enabling the function of the coordinator to be performed by the decided secondary coordinator. Thus, a process for transferring the coordinating function without the handover process is called a recovery process. The present invention relates to the recovery method and a method of deciding a secondary coordinator to perform a recovery. In the method of deciding the secondary coordinator, a method of deciding a more proper coordinator using information on coordinator priority is provided.

A method for sharing a channel in a communication system is disclosed. The method includes receiving scheduling information including information about a channel time reserved by other user devices, and transmitting data through the reserved channel time if a result of performing scanning in the reserved channel time indicates that no interference occurs, wherein the communication system performs communication using beam signals which are directional. If the signals are highly directional, the channel sharing method enables a plurality of user devices to share a channel, thereby increasing the efficiency of channel use.

Methods of controlling connection establishment to transmit or receive AA/data in a wireless network are disclosed. A method of controlling connection establishment to transmit or receive AA/data in a first device of a wireless network, which includes a coordinator and at least one device, comprises transmitting connection request information required to request connection establishment with a second device and a connection request message which includes capability information of the first device to the second device, and receiving a connection response message from the second device in response to the connection request message. As well as message formats to said methods are disclosed.

Network communication and more particularly a method for determining whether a specific channel is available or not in an environment a plurality of networks can coexist are disclosed. In addition, a method for increasing a range for detecting a signal of a different type of network using a signal composed of a narrowband signal as a signal for detecting the different type of network is disclosed. Furthermore, a method for performing communication in an environment in which one or more communication networks and more particularly different types of networks coexist is disclosed.
