    摘要: A panel capacitor is formed by a scan electrode and a sustain electrode. The voltage at the panel capacitor is reduced by turning on a transistor coupled between the scan electrode and the capacitor. As a result, the voltage within the panel capacitor exceeds the discharge firing voltage to discharge the panel capacitor. When the gate voltage of the transistor is reduced by an RC circuit, the transistor is turned off, and the scan electrode is floated. A discharge is then steeply quenched, and wall charges are finely controlled. Next, the above-noted operation is repeated by turning on the transistor.

The X and Y electrode lines of the respective X and Y groups are commonly connected to be driven, and at least first and second subfields are driven in an overlapping manner for displaying gray scales during a unit display period. The scan pulse is progressively applied between pulses for a display discharge, to the corresponding Y electrode lines of subfields set as driving periods for time-division gray scale display, and the voltage of the display data signal applied to the pixels where a discharge display is to take place as a time difference between (i) the first pulse, among the pulses for a display discharge and (ii) the pulse of the display data signal applied to the pixels where a discharge display is to take place before application of the first pulse, becomes larger.

First and second signal lines for supplying first and second voltages and at least one inductor coupled between one end of the panel capacitor and a third voltage are formed. Energy is stored in the inductor through a path formed between the third voltage and the first signal line in a state where a voltage of one end of the panel capacitor is substantially fixed to the first voltage. The voltage of one end of the panel capacitor substantially decreases to the second voltage using resonance current generated between the inductor and the panel capacitor and the stored energy. Energy is stored in the inductor through a path formed between the third voltage and the second line in a state where a voltage of one end of the panel capacitor is substantially fixed to the second voltage. The voltage of one end of the panel capacitor substantially increases to the first voltage using the resonance current generated between the inductor and the panel capacitor and the stored energy.
