Abstract: An intravenous heat exchange catheter and/or an external cooling pad/bladder can be used to maintain hypothermia in, e.g., a cardiac arrest patient, but to accelerate the cooling process the patient first can be infused with cold saline before the opportunity arises to connect the catheter or pad to the patient.

Abstract: A temperature management system for ease and timing of priming, setup and/or operation by a user. The temperature management system is configured to control a temperature of a patient's body using a heat exchange device. The temperature management system includes a console that is coupled to a heat exchange device, such as a catheter or surface pad. The console includes a hardware interface for receiving or coupling to a fluid loop configured to supply the heat exchange device with heating or cooling working fluid (e.g., saline). The interface provides instructions, indicators, and/or hardware elements to assist a user in configuring and priming the fluid loop for operation.

Abstract: A temperature management system is configured to control a temperature of a patient's body using a heat exchange device. The temperature management system is configured to deliver temperature management treatment or therapy to a patient. A user interface of the system is configured to display operational data and patient data on the user interface in a configuration that allows a user to determine or review one or more periods of the performed temperature management treatment.

Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for temperature modification of a patient, or selected regions thereof, including an induced state of hypothermia. The temperature modification is accomplished using an in-dwelling heat exchange catheter within which a fluid heat exchange medium circulates. A heat exchange cassette is attached to the circulatory conduits of the catheter, the heat exchange cassette being sized to engage a cavity within a control unit. The control unit includes a heater/cooler device for providing heated or cooled fluid to a heat exchanger in thermal communication with the fluid heat exchange medium circulating to the heat exchange catheter, a user input device, and a processor connected to receive input from various sensors around the body and the system. A temperature control scheme for ramping the body temperature up or down without overshoot is provided.

Abstract: A medical resuscitation system includes a platform for releasable coupling to a patient for delivery of mechanical chest compressions, the platform having sensor(s) for monitoring aspect(s) of compression delivery, and processing circuitry configured to control the delivery chest compressions during a patient therapy session; receive, during the session, signals from each sensor; and store, to a memory, operational data collected for use by an authorized user in troubleshooting a problem with the platform and/or gathering historic data regarding use of the platform, and clinical metrics regarding the delivery of the compressions during the session, where the clinical metrics are collected for use in a summary report accessible to a clinical user. The summary report may be transferred to a server or a portable computer readable medium. The operational data may be transferred to an accessory unit or data integrator configured to cooperate with the platform for providing the therapy.
