Abstract: Systems and methods for removing objects from images are disclosed. An image processing application identifies a boundary of each object of a set of objects in an image. In some cases, the identification uses deep learning. The image processing application identifies a completed boundary for each object of the set of objects by providing the object to a trained model. The image processing application determines a set of masks. Each mask corresponds to an object of the set of objects and represents a region of the image defined by an intersection of the boundary of the object and the boundary of a target object to be removed from the image. The image processing application updates each mask by separately performing content filling on the corresponding region. The image processing application creates an output image by merging each of the updated masks with portions of the image.

Abstract: Embodiments relate to automatic perspective and horizon correction. Generally, a camera captures an image as an image file. Capture-time orientation data from one or more sensors is used to determine the camera's attitude with respect to a defined reference frame. The orientation data and/or attitude can be registered into metadata of the image file and used to generate axis lines representative of the camera's reference frame. A reference line such as a horizon can be automatically identified from detected line segments in the image that align with one of the axis lines within a predetermined angular threshold. The reference line can be used to generate a camera transformation from a starting orientation reflected by the camera attitude to a transformed orientation that aligns the reference line with the reference frame. The transformation can be applied to the image to automatically correct perspective distortion and/or horizon tilt in the image.

Abstract: Techniques for converting mechanical markings on hardcopy textual content into digital annotations in a digital document file. In accordance with some embodiments, the techniques include identifying at least one block of text in a digital (scanned) image of a hardcopy document, and identifying at least one mechanical marking in the digital image of the hardcopy document. The mechanical marking, such as an underline, strike-through, highlight or circle, covers or lies adjacent to the corresponding block of text. An annotated digital document file is generated from the digital image of the hardcopy document. The annotated digital document file includes computer-executable instructions representing the original text of the hardcopy document and at least one annotation corresponding to the mechanical marking in the hardcopy document.

Abstract: Content-conforming stamp tool techniques are described. In one or more embodiments, a selection of an object in a digital image is received. An indication of a location in the digital image where the object is to be reproduced is also received. To reproduce and conform the object at the reproduction location, adjustments to a shape of the object are computed to conform a reproduction of the object to image content proximate the reproduction location. The adjustments are computed based on both the geometry of the image content at the source location and the geometry of the image content at the reproduction location. The adjustments are then applied to the shape of the object when it is reproduced at the reproduction location.

Abstract: Examples are directed to selective editing of digital images using editing tools having persistent tool settings. A source image is opened as a target image in an image editing application. Once opened in the image editing application, the target image includes a plurality of image layers. Visual elements of the target image file are then edited using tools in the image editing application. For each tool used, a tool identifier and the relevant tool settings are saved and associated with the corresponding layer in a target image file. Upon closing and later re-opening the target image file, the saved tool identifier and tool settings are presented for display for further image editing in subsequent user sessions.

Abstract: A media edit point selection process can include a media editing software application programmatically converting speech to text and storing a timestamp-to-text map. The map correlates text corresponding to speech extracted from an audio track for the media clip to timestamps for the media clip. The timestamps correspond to words and some gaps in the speech from the audio track. The probability of identified gaps corresponding to a grammatical pause by the speaker is determined using the timestamp-to-text map and a semantic model. Potential edit points corresponding to grammatical pauses in the speech are stored for display or for additional use by the media editing software application. Text can optionally be displayed to a user during media editing.

Abstract: Described herein is a system and techniques for classification of subjects within image information. In some embodiments, a set of subjects may be identified within image data obtained at two different points in time. For each of the subjects in the set of subjects, facial landmark relationships may be assessed at the two different points in time to determine a difference in facial expression. That difference may be compared to a threshold value. Additionally, contours of each of the subjects in the set of subjects may be assessed at the two different points in time to determine a difference in body position. That difference may be compared to a different threshold value. Each of the subjects in the set of subjects may then be classified based on the comparison between the differences and the threshold values.

Abstract: Systems and techniques for a design-aware image search are described. The design-aware image search techniques described herein capture a design on an item to determine additional items with similar or matching designs. An image of the item is used to create an edge image of a design, and shape descriptors are generated describing features of the edge image. These shape descriptors are compared to shape descriptors associated with other images to locate images that have similar or matching designs as compared with the input image. The design-aware image search system may uses these relationships to generate a search result with images or products having a design similar to the design on the input image.
