摘要: A steering system for vehicles comprising a steering wheel, a front steering sub-system including a drive pinion interlocked to be rotatable with the steering wheel, a rack shaft having a first rack engaged with the drive pinion and a second rack separated from the first rack, and a driven pinion engaged with the second rack; and a rear steering sub-system including an input shaft operatively connected to the driven pinion, an off-centered pin provided at one end of the input shaft, a pair of rear tie-rods adapted each respectively to turn either of the rear wheels, and a joint member relatively rotatably connected to the off-centered pin and both of the rear tie-rods. The joint member has a longitudinal axis thereof extending transversely of the vehicle. The axis of the off-centered pin is located substantially on the longitudinal axis. The rear tie-rods are connected to the joint member substantially on the longitudinal axis substantially at the same level as the axis of the off-centered pin.The steering system may further comprise an engagement adjustment mechanism for adjusting the engagement between at least either of the pinions and one of the racks associated therewith, the adjustment mechanism being constituted with a gear box having accommodated therein the drive pinion, the rack shaft, and the driven pinion, an off-centered ring being interposed between the inner circumference of the gear box and the outer circumference of the rack shaft, and a rotating mechanism for rotating the off-centered ring.

摘要: A steering device for a vehicle including a steering wheel, front wheels and a steering mechanism therefor, rear wheels and a steering mechanism therefor, a pair of rear wheel steering tie rods connecting the rear wheels with the rear wheel steering mechanism, and an operating shaft connecting the front wheel steering mechanism with the rear wheel steering mechanism, the rear wheels being steered along with the front wheels under a steering operation of the steering wheel. The rear wheel steering mechanism includes a crank member rotated under rotation of the operating shaft and extending in a radially outward direction of the operating shaft, and a connecting member having the ends thereof connected to the inner ends of the tie rods and extending in the width direction of the vehicle while being movable in such direction. Upon rotation of the crank member, the rear wheels are steered in the same direction as that of the front wheels during small steering angle operation of the steering wheel, and during large steering angle operation of the steering wheel the rear wheels are steered in a direction opposite to that of the front wheels or the steering angle of the rear wheels is reset to zero or near zero. By virtue of such arrangement, the tie rods may be shortened in accordance with a desired suspension characteristic.

摘要: A vehicular steering system including a steering wheel, a front wheel steering mechanism for steering a front wheel according to steering amounts of the steering wheel, and a rear wheel steering mechanism for steering a rear wheel according to such steering amounts in the same direction as that of the front wheel when such steering amounts are relatively small and in a direction opposite to the steering direction of the front wheel when such steering amounts are relatively large. The rear wheel steering mechanism includes a crank member connected to the steering wheel, a movable member connected to the crank member, a restriction mechanism for restraining the movable member and permitting the latter to perform only restricted movements along a predetermined pattern, and an output mechanism interconnecting the movable member and the rear wheel for effecting the steering of the rear wheel according to components of motion in a predetermined direction of such restricted movements.The steering system is capable of steering front and rear wheels in the same direction in response to relatively small steering amounts of a steering wheel and in opposite directions in response to relatively large steering amounts of the steering wheel, and is provided in a compact construction.

摘要: A steering device for a vehicle provided with a steering wheel, front wheels and a front wheel steering mechanism, rear wheels and a rear wheel steering mechanism, a pair of rear wheel steering tie rods for respectively connecting the rear wheels to the rear wheel steering mechanism, and an operating shaft which connects the front and rear wheel steering mechanisms, the rear wheels being steered along with the front wheels in response to steering operation of the steering wheels. The rear wheel steering mechanism of the steering device comprises a plurality of rotary members operatively cooperating so as to rotate together, with the operating shaft being connected to the rotational center of one of the rotary members and the inner ends of the tie rods being connected to two of the rotary members at positions displaced from the rotational center, respectively. With such device, the rear wheels are rotated in the same direction as that of the front wheels under rotation of the rotary members during low steering angle operation of the steering wheel, and during large steering angle operation of the steering wheel the rear wheels are steered in a direction opposite to that of the front wheels or the steering angle of the rear wheels is reset to zero or near zero. The rear wheel steering mechanism is constructed so as to be very compact, and with high mechanical strength.
