摘要:
The present invention describes a method and apparatus that performs parallel normalization and rounding on an ANSI/IEEE 754-1985 floating point intermediate result that dispenses with the need for shifting of the intermediate result prior to normalization or rounding. The exponent is pre-incremented prior to normalization. During normalization, the most significant bit of the intermediate fraction is shifted into the carry bit and the exponent is decremented accordingly. Selection logic then selects one of six possible formatting procedures to generate a mathematically correct output fraction in proper ANSI/IEEE 754-1985 floating point format, and formatting logic generates the output fraction according to the selected formatting procedure.
摘要:
The present invention describes an apparatus and method to select the format of the output fraction result of an ANSI/IEEE 754-1985 floating point arithmetic operation where parallel normalization and rounding of the intermediate fraction result has occurred. The C bit and the L bit and the most significant bit of the intermediate fraction are examined, along with the Gin bit, Rin bit, and round control bit. Based on these inputs, the output fraction is formatted by performing zero or more manipulations of either the output of the rounder circuit or the output from the normalizer circuit.

A flexible insole insert comprises a body having a planar first member and a planar second member secured to the first member. The second member has a heel portion, with a medial portion and a lateral portion, and an arch portion. A foremost extremity of the arch portion passes beneath the second and third metatarsals of a user's foot. An inner edge of the second member passes beneath the lateral cuneiform and a medial outer edge passes under the navicular of the user's foot. The relative thicknesses of the first member and second member are dimensioned to moderate any ridging and creasing effects which might be caused in the sole of the user's foot by the second member. A metatarsal cutout, generally centered beneath the user's first metatarsal joint, has a longitudinal edge spaced between the user's first and second metatarsals and a transverse edge spaced rearwardly from the user's first metatarsal. A longitudinally shaped heel cutout is generally centered beneath the user's heel. The insole insert is structured to cooperatively redistribute weight-generated forces normally by suspending the heel and first metatarsal shifting weight by bridging the forefoot and rearfoot.

Footwear comprising a sole formed from a first resilient material for attenuating the shock of impact to a wearer during running or walking, and a second material harder than the first material for providing firm support for a foot. The sole has heel, arch and toe sections, each of which have medial and lateral regions. The sole also has a forefoot section having a first region for supporting the first, second, third, fourth and fifth metatarsal heads of the foot, associated phalanges and metatarsal phalangeal joints, and the metatarsal necks associated with the fourth and fifth metatarsal heads, and a second region for supporting the metatarsal necks associated with the second and third metatarsal heads. The sole is formed so that the first resilient material is positioned in the lateral region of the heel section, the lateral region of the arch section, and the first region of the forefoot section, and so that the second harder material is positioned in the medial region of the arch section, and the second region of the forefoot section.

Footwear, such as a running shoe, comprising a sole and an upper, the sole having heel, arch and forefoot sections, and medial and lateral sides. The sole is so formed that when it is unstressed and disposed on a generally flat horizontal surface the upper foot-supporting surfaces of the heel and arch sections are inclined generally downwardly from the medial to the lateral side of the sole. The arch section at the medial side of the sole is constructed for supporting the bottom of the arch of the foot at a predetermined elevation in relation to the heel and forward part of the foot. The arch section is compressible at its medial side no more than a predetermined distance on impact of the shoe during running.
