    Abstract: Systems and methods of performing a handover in a wireless communication network are provided. A controller node can receive a first request to establish a first logical communication link between a first access node and a gateway. The controller node can receive from a second access node a second request to establish a second logical communication link between the second access node and the gateway and to release the first logical communication link between the first access node and the gateway. A timer can be initiated after receiving the second request. The timer can be based on a mobility of the wireless device, a load of the wireless communication network, and an application requirement of an application running on the wireless device. The gateway can be instructed to establish the second logical communication link after initiating the timer and to release the first logical communication link after the timer expires.

    Abstract: In systems and methods of managing tracking area updates, tracking area update messages received from a wireless device are monitored, where the tracking area update messages are received from a wireless device when the wireless device changes between communicating over a first channel associated with a first tracking area identifier and a second channel associated with a second tracking area identifier. The first tracking area identifier comprises a unique tracking area code and a first network identifier, and the second tracking area identifier comprises the unique tracking area code and a second network identifier.     Abstract: In an embodiment, a location, a type of application, and a probability of transition to a no-coverage area are determined for each of a plurality of wireless devices in communication with an access node, and a collaborative group of wireless devices which have requested a data stream are selected. A first portion of the data stream is sent to each wireless device to synchronize the requested data stream, and at least one additional portion of the data stream is sent to each wireless device, where a number of the at least one additional portions sent to each wireless device is based on a modulation and coding scheme assigned to each wireless device. A mapping table is broadcast to the collaborative group, and the wireless devices exchange the additional portions of the data stream according to the mapping table when the collaborative group transitions to the no-coverage area.
