    摘要: The present invention is to provide liquid crystalline compounds having a wide temperature range of a liquid crystal phase, low viscosity, and large ratio of elastic constants; liquid crystal compositions comprising the compound; and liquid crystal display devices comprising the composition; the liquid crystalline compounds being fluoroalkenyl derivatives expressed by the general formula (1) ##STR1## wherein A.sub.1, A.sub.2, A.sub.3, and A.sub.4 independently represent trans-1,4-cyclohexylene group or 1,4-phenylene group; Z.sub.1, Z.sub.2, and Z.sub.3 independently represent --(CH.sub.2).sub.2 --, --CH.dbd.CH--, --C.ident.C--, or a single bond; Q represents H or F; l is an integer of 1 to 5; m, n, and o are independently an integer of 0 to 5; p and q are independently an integer of 0 or 1; and each element which constitutes the derivatives may be an isotope of the element.

    摘要: A novel liquid crystalline compound having a high elastic constant ratio, K.sub.33 /K.sub.11, a superior compatibility with other liquid crystal compounds, particularly a low temperature compatibility therewith, and chemical stability; a liquid crystal composition containing such a liquid crystalline compound; and a liquid crystal display element, are provided, which liquid crystalline compound is expressed by the formula (1) ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 is an alkyl group or an alkyloxy group of 1 to 10C or a halogenated alkyl group, a halogenated alkyloxy group of 1 to 4C, halogen atom or cyano group; R.sub.2 is H atom or an alkyl group of 1 to 3C; rings A and B each independently are 1,4-phenylene ring or trans-1,4-cyclohexylene group, which may be substituted by halogen atom; Z is single bond, 1,4-phenylene ring, trans-1,4-cyclohexylene ring or 1,2-ethylene group; p is 2 to 4; and q is 0 or 1.

    摘要: A liquid crystalline compound expressed by the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 represents an alkyl group of 1 to 12 carbon atoms, and one or two not adjacent CH.sub.2 group excluding the terminal in this group may be replaced by --CO-- group, --OCO-- group, --COO-- group or --CH.dbd.CH group; X and Z each represents H, F or Cl; Y represents perfluoroalkyl group or perfluoroalkyloxy group of 1 to 4 carbon atoms, and one or two F atoms in this group may be replaced by H; one of A, B and C represents cyclohexene ring and the others thereof are chosen from among covalent bond or cyclohexane group and benzene ring and these rings may be substituted by F or Cl; and l, m and n each are 0 or 1, independently of each other, but when m=0, then l=0. It is possible to provide a liquid crystal composition having a large .DELTA.n, a low viscosity and a high voltage-holding ratio, and exhibiting a nematic liquid crystal phase within a broad temperature range and having a very high .DELTA..epsilon. and a low driving voltage, and preferably used for TFT. Further it is possible to provide a novel liquid crystalline compound preferred as a component for the liquid crystal composition.

    摘要: A liquid crystalline alkenyltolan derivative expressed by the general formula CtH2t−1—G—(CH2)m—A1—B1—(A2—B2)n—(A3—B3)p—A4—X wherein A1, A2, A3, and A4 independently represent a 1,4-cyclohexylene, 1,4-phenylene in which one or two hydrogen atoms may be replaced by a fluorine atom(s), dioxane-2,5-diyl, or pyrimidine-2,5-diyl group; B1, B2, and B3 independently represent a covalent bond, an 1,2-ethylene, 1,2-ethenylene, 1,2-ethynylene, oxymethylene, methylenoxy, carbonyloxy, or 1,4-butylene group provided that at least one of B1, B2, and B3 represents an 1,2-ethynylene group; G represents a covalent bond or an oxygen atom; CtH2t−1 represents an alkenyl group having t carbon atoms; n and p are each 0 or 1; and X represents an alkyl group having 1 to 10 carbon atoms. The derivative provides a liquid-crystal compound and a liquid-crystal composition which have high anisotropy, high elastic constant ratio, excellent comparability with other liquid-crystal compounds, and low viscosity and are chemically and physically stable.

    摘要: The present invention is to provide a liquid crystal composition which has particularly a high upper limit temperature of a nematic phase, a low lower limit temperature of the nematic phase and a small birefringence while satisfying general characteristics required for the liquid crystal composition for an AM-LCD. Liquid crystal compositions are disclosed which comprise a component I comprising at least one compound selected from the group of compounds represented by Formula (I-1) or (I-2) as described in the specification, a component II comprising at least one compound selected from the group of compounds represented by Formulas (II-1) to (II-8) as described in the specification and a component III comprising at least one compound selected from the group of compounds represented by Formulas (III-1) to (III-5) as described in the specification.
