摘要： An expansion anchor installable in a pre-drilled hole formed in a base material. The expansion anchor includes a bolt having a shaft with a head portion, an opposing end portion, and a threaded portion. A shoulder is disposed on the shaft intermediate the head portion and the end portion thereof, and an expandable sleeve is disposed about the shaft between the shoulder and the end portion of the shaft. The expandable sleeve has an expandable upper sleeve portion and an expandable lower sleeve portion wherein the expandable lower sleeve portion is expandable outwardly before the expandable upper sleeve portion is expandable outwardly. A nut having a substantially conical surface is fixed rotationally in the pre-drilled hole and is engagable with the threaded portion of the shaft. The substantially conical surface of the nut is engageable with the expandable lower sleeve portion so as to expand the lower sleeve portion until the nut is axially fixes in the pre-drilled hole. The advancing bolt is subsequently drawn into the pre-drilled hole and the shoulder of the shaft is engagable with the expandable upper sleeve portion so as outwardly expand to the upper sleeve portion, whereby the expandable upper and lower sleeve portions are engageable with the wall of the pre-drilled hole so as to retain the expansion anchor therein.

摘要： The present invention is a fastener assembly including a row of fasteners maintained in position by a carrier. The carrier includes a plurality of adjacent sleeves, each of which includes an upper breakable portion, a middle wall portion, and a lower breakable portion. When a fastener is driven into a work piece, the upper and middle portions of the fastener sleeve break away and the lower portion breaks into fragments, so that no residual sleeve parts remain with the fastener. This is accomplished by forming the carrier from a mixture of a stiff polyolefin material and a particulate filler to impart the necessary brittleness to the carrier sleeves. The plurality of carrier sleeves include two end sleeves. At least one end sleeve includes a lateral end extension in the lower breakable portion which helps to balance and stabilize the fastener assembly in the shear block and magazine holder of a fastener driving tool.

摘要： A construction anchor for mounting an object on a structure of masonry, concrete, metal or the like includes a metal anchoring portion and a plastic cap. The anchor is adapted to be inserted, metal end first, into a pre-drilled adhesive-filled hole. The cap has a flange that is larger than the hole diameter, so that the anchor may be inserted and seated in the hole at a consistent depth. When the adhesive has set, a screw or bolt is inserted through the plastic cap to engage the threads in an internal bore in the anchoring portion. The plastic cap serves not only to determine the depth of the anchor in the hole, but also to prevent adhesive and other material from entering the threaded interior of the anchor prior to use.

摘要： In a strip of collated fasteners, each having a shank and a head, a carrier molded from a polymeric material has a sleeve for each fastener. Each sleeve has an annular portion and a breakable portion, which breaks into two segments as the fastener gripped by such sleeve is driven. The breakable portion, which is notched at one end, has a pair of similar, laterally opposed, outwardly opening, continuously curved concave recesses with open windows, from which portions of the fastener shank emerges. In a fastener-guiding tool, parallel ribs of a guiding device fit into such recesses, into close proximity with the emerging portions, so as to guide the strip between such ribs.

摘要： A driver bit attachment for a power tool for preventing over-torquing of the fastener. A driver bit is received in a first bore and a second larger bore of a cylindrical attachment body. A projection permits attachment to a drill or screw gun. The projection has a tapped recess extending axially therein which receives a set screw. The end of the set screw engages the trailing end of the driver bit to position it within the two bores and, thereby, determines the point at which the fastener will disengage itself from drive by pulling itself out of contact with the driver bit.
