摘要: Mounting pin arrangements are useful for connecting a first and a second structure together. When the pin is inserted in a mounting structure the mounting pin arrangement needs to expand to seal the arrangement to prevent dust and dirt from entering the mounting arrangement. The subject mounting pin arrangement includes a sleeve assembly that has a plurality of sleeve segments and an elastomeric is positioned and connected to adjacent segments and includes an end cap on the end portion of the sleeve. The sleeve includes a tapered bore therethrough. A pair of inserts are positioned in the bore and include tapers that interact with the taper in the bore of the sleeve to expand the sleeve to seal the mounting arrangement. The arrangement of components provides an expandable pin arrangement that will prevent dust or dirt from entering the mounting arrangement to prolong the life of the various components.

摘要: An expandable body of expansion bolt comprises an upper section having a hollow upper circular member including a cut and a connection member coupled to the upper section, and a hollow lower circular member including a cut and a dent with the connection member received therein; a middle section having a plurality of parallel longitudinal slots; and a lower section having a plurality of substantially rectangular members on a lower portion. In operation, a piece of object is fastened between lower portion of the lower section and the middle section by driving the bolt in response to an insertion of the bolt through the body and the piece of object. A variety of configurations of upper section and circular members are provided for enhancing the positioning of the expandable body and guiding of the thread of bolt.

摘要: Disclosed is a self plugging blind rivet for securing together apertured members, the rivet comprising a tubular shell having a tail end face at one end and a preformed radially enlarged bead at the other end, and a stem that extends through the shell and has a stem head adjacent the tail end face of the shell and a breakneck located away from the stem head, in which the region of the stem shank on the stem head side of the breakneck has a plurality of depressions formed therein extending to the breakneck, the corresponding region of the shell substantially filling the depressions in a region adjacent the stem head and progressively less towards the breakneck whereby, in use and under axial compression loading of the shell, the shell preferentially buckles in the region adjacent the member remote from the preformed head to form a blind head in contact with the member so as to clamp together the apertured members. Also disclosed is a method of assembling the above-described rivet comprising inserting the shell in a die, the first part of which closely fits the outside diameter of the shell, a second part being formed as a taper and which progressively increases in diameter until it intersects a third pan of the die into which the tail end of the shell protrudes, supporting the head of the shell with an abutment inserting a punch which has a first diameter closely fitting the bore of the rivet shell and a second diameter which closely fits the third pan of the die, applying a compressive force between the punch and the abutment so as to compress the rivet shell to fill both the taper and the larger diameter of the die, removing the abutment and punch, inserting a stem and ejecting the assembled shell and stem through the die, whereby, during ejection, the material of the shell is forced into the depression in the stem to substantially fill the depressions at least at the tall end of the shell and progressively towards the breakneck.

摘要: A blind fastener with an improved drive nut and assembly process. The blind fastener includes a screw, a sleeve, a nut, and a drive nut. The drive nut has a smooth bore and protruding nibs that mate precisely with a driving recess located in the nut head. A side portion of the drive nut is deformed to retain the drive nut on the screw against the nut. Once the new assembly process for the blind fastener has been completed, the drive nut will have been mated with the nut head to prevent any rotation of the nut during installation of the blind fastener. The assembly process includes placing the sleeve over the threads of the screw to a position adjacent the screw head. The nut is then threaded onto the screw adjacent the sleeve. The protruding nibs of the drive nut are next aligned and physically engaged into the driving recess of the nut head by sliding the smooth bore over the screw. At least one side portion of the drive nut is deformed by side staking thereby displacing a portion of the drive nut into the threads of the screw.
