摘要: A system and method is provided for compensating for a faulty ink jet in a target printhead in an ink jet imaging system having a plurality of printheads arranged to span a maximum printing width that includes defining a typical printing width less than the maximum printing width and swapping the target printhead with a printhead situated in the margin outside the typical printing width. The system and method permits swapping the target printhead with a margin printhead that has a faulty ink jet provided that the location of the faulty ink jet in the margin printhead does not coincide or align with a faulty ink jet in printheads adjacent the target printhead.

摘要: An ink jet imaging system comprises a heated imaging drum that rotates in at least one direction, a print head for ejecting ink onto the heated imaging drum as it rotates past the print head to form an image, a media sheet transport for synchronizing movement of a media sheet with rotation of the heated imaging drum, a transfixing roller that forms a transfixing nip with the heated imaging drum to transfix the image on the rotating heated image drum onto the media sheet synchronized by the media sheet transport, and a media director located between the media sheet transport and the heated imaging drum to direct the media sheet into close proximity with the heated imaging drum at a position sufficiently prior to the transfixing nip that the heated imaging drum heats the media sheet before the media sheet enters the transfixing nip.

摘要: A method processes image data in a color separation to attenuate printing defects arising from misalignment of serially arranged printheads that eject ink for the color separation. The method includes processing image values of the color separation with a first rendering process that corresponds to one printhead in a plurality of serially arranged printheads for printing the color separation, processing the image values of the color separation with a second rendering process that differs from the first rendering process for at least one other printhead in the plurality of serially arranged printheads for printing the color separation, generating firing signals for the one printhead from the rendered image values generated by the first rendering process, and generating firing signals for the at least one other printhead from the rendered image values generated by the second rendering process.

摘要: An apparatus compensates for mechanical disturbances during a print process by adjusting the generation of image generating head actuation signals in anticipation of a mechanical disturbance. The apparatus includes a printer controller for generating signals to coordinate movement of components with a rotating image receiver in a printer and for generating data identifying a process disturbance arising from interaction of the rotating image receiver with the components and an expected time for the process disturbance, a process disturbance compensator for generating a process disturbance compensation signal that corresponds to the process disturbance identification and timing data, and an image generating head controller for adjusting an image generating head actuation signal with the process disturbance compensation signal.

摘要: An image forming system is provided having a printhead including a plurality of ejectors arranged in one or more sequenced groups. Each of the ejectors has a sequence number assigned thereto, ranging from a minimum value and incremented to a maximum value within each sequence group. The plurality of ejectors have an arrangement such that a difference between the sequence number assignment of any two adjacent ejectors is less than a difference between the maximum and minimum sequence number assignment values.

摘要: A developer unit for developing a latent image recorded on an image receiving member with marking particles, to form a developed image. A donor member is spaced from the image receiving member and adapted to transport marking particles to a development zone adjacent the image receiving member. An electrode is positioned in the development zone between the image receiving member and the donor member. A voltage supply is provided for electrically biasing the electrode during a developing operation with an alternating current bias to detach marking particles from the donor member, forming a cloud of marking particles in the development zone, and developing the latent image with marking particles from the cloud. The voltage supply periodically electrically biases the electrode during a cleaning operation with a direct current bias and with a alternating current bias so that toner is effectively removed from the wire. The bias levels are chosen to reduce field induced redeposition of right or wrong sign toner.

摘要: A color electrophotographic printing system that uses one switched developer power supply for all developers and that enables a reduced size by reducing the interdocument zone. The interdocument zone is reduced by using a developer order in which the last used developers in a development cycle is physically located first. Beneficially, the developer that is used first is physically located last.
