摘要： A data format for a dictionary-based compressed melody data includes a command part and a data part. The command part includes an index for designating an indexed dictionary entry in a dictionary and indicators for indicating modification/update options for the dictionary. The data part is used to modify the indexed dictionary entry to obtain a decoded musical note. A compressor selects a musical note as a dictionary entry according to a statistical model and records an index in the command part. The compressor further stores a difference between a musical note and an existing dictionary entry in the data part. A decompressor reads an indexed dictionary entry from a dictionary thereof and selectively modifies the indexed dictionary entry by the data part in the compressed data. The decompressor optionally updates the dictionary thereof by the decoded musical note. Therefore, the dictionaries of the compressor and the decompressor can be synchronized.

摘要： A method and system for automatically changing the operation of signaling features in a telephone are disclosed. In an exemplary embodiment, a method is disclosed to provide automatic reduction in the sound volume associated with the signaling features of a telephone system, during a selected portion of a day. A user is provided with a programmable menu in communication with one or more devices associated with a telephone system. From the menu provided, the user may enter a the beginning and ending time for the “quiet mode” operation of the telephone system. In addition, the user may select the signaling features to be quieted, as well as the sound volume associated with quiet mode operation for a given signaling feature.

摘要： A system and method for invoking one or more features of a wireless device when a signal strength of a channel approaches or drops below an RSSI threshold of the channel is disclosed. An embodiment of the invention includes the steps of (1) obtaining the RSSI threshold for the channel; (2) monitoring the signal strength during an operation mode of the wireless device; and (3) invoking the feature when the signal strength approaches a predetermined limit of the RSSI threshold. In an implementation on a cordless telephone, the feature can include playing a warning, switching to a different channel, or returning a telephone line to an idle state.

The system includes an input device for inputting a dial string from a user, a storage device for storing a plurality of telephone numbers, a display device for displaying the dial string, and a processor for matching the dial string with telephone numbers stored in the storage device. The dial string includes one or more digits. The processor matches the one or more digits with telephone numbers stored in the storage device and retrieves the telephone numbers. Each of the retrieved telephone number includes all digits of the dial string. The retrieved telephone numbers are then displayed on the display device. After the user selects one of the displayed telephone numbers, the system performs an action with the telephone number. For example, the system can be configured to dial the selected telephone number.
