Appropriately dimensioned slots (22a,22b) and surfaces (31,32,33,34,35,36,37,40,41) are provided on the connector to cooperate with bayonet-type arm ends (3a,3b) and hook-type arms ends (1a,1b, 2a,2b) for securing the appropriate arm end to the connector. One connector (14,15) is capable of accommodating at least six different arm ends.

摘要： A connector is provided for connecting one type arm end connector to a cross pin of a cross pin-type wiper blade. The connector has a body portion having a longitudinal axis with one part of the body portion receiving the end of a wiper arm and a second part of said body portion engaging the cross pin of the blade. Said second part has a pin-receiving slot in the forward facing wall and a pair of sidewardly-urged latch legs having contact surfaces spaced from the transverse axis of said pin-receiving slot. The legs are squeezed together as the pin-receiving slot is aligned with the cross pin and the squeezed legs are threaded between the side walls of the blade. The legs are released as the slot of the connector is snapped over the pin. The connector is rotated about the axis of the pin until the latch legs snap out of the opening between the walls of the blade. The contact surfaces of the legs are spaced above the edges of the walls of the blade as the connector and its associated arm are articulated relative to the blade through the normal range of blade and arm movement. The connector cannot be removed from the blade without first squeezing the legs against the body portion and pivoting the connector relative to the blade to move the legs between the walls of the blades whereupon the connector can be pulled transverse to the axis of the blade to unsnap the connector from the blade.

[Class 138 (i)] In a windscreen wiper of the pivoted arm type in which the wiper blade is readily detachable from the arm, the connection between the two parts is by a stud and slot. As shown, an elongated stud 9 on the wiper blade 1 is received by a slot 10 in the arm 2 and is retained therein by a spring 22 which closes the entrance 11 to the slot. The wiper blade is urged towards the windscreen by the spring 22 and is returned to normal position by the camming action of a ridge 24 in the spring engaging a groove 25 in the wiper blade, limited pivotal movement of the blade being allowed by the shank of the stud 9 engaging curved sides 12 of the slot 10. To permit disengagement of the stud from the slot, the spring 22 is disengaged from a shoulder 19 on the arm 2. In a modification, the stud is of bent sheet metal.

When the wiper blade is located in a mounting-dismounting disabled region, the mounting-dismounting openings and the small-diameter sections do not match with each other, and the support shafts and the shaft support recesses cannot be mounted to and dismounted from each other. A shape retaining section is located between the pair of the shaft support recesses.
