The image supply blocks assert selected lines of image data onto a respective one of first and second plurality of buses. The image supply blocks provide respective update signals to the image processing units in response to the update ok signals from both of the image processing units, transfer data from the second sub-portion to the first, and assert new data on the second sub-portion. Each image processing unit, in response to receiving both update signals, changes state to track the data without losing bus cycles to maintain performance.

Image data representing the group of still images including the still images photographed from various viewpoints are formed into a hierarchy and recorded in an image file. A first layer has image data representing an index image comprising images viewed from 4 points whose resolution is ¼ of that of the original image. A second layer has hierarchical image data representing images viewed from 16 points and having a resolution which is ½ of the original image resolution. A third layer has hierarchical image data having the same resolution as the original image and viewed from 36 points. Upon reproduction, the hierarchical image data are reproduced from the first layer.

    摘要: Methods of caching tile image constituents of image-mosaics enable a substantially smooth real-time display of portions of the image-mosaic in a view during panning, resizing, or zooming of the view. The method includes using a predictive algorithm to identify tile images to be retrieved from a remote store through a local area network, and for sequencing requests for the retrieval of tile images from the remote store. A scheduler calculates time spent in retrieving and servicing each tile image retrieval request and proportionately pauses retrieval of tile images after each request is serviced in order to prevent over utilizing LAN resources. The advantages are that tile images to be displayed are cached in accordance with a priority to facilitate image display while network data transfers are distributed in time.

    摘要: A data compression method and system that include the substitution of a substring of data characters located at a first position in a stream of data characters with a substitution code. The substitution code includes a reference to a previous position in the stream of data characters at which is located a substring of data characters that matches the substring of data characters which are being substituted located at the first position. The substitution code also includes an indication of the size of the substituted substring. The reference in the substitution code is a backwards offset to the previous position relative to the first position. According to a further aspect, Huffman encoding can be applied to the backward offsets, the substring lengths, the consecutive literal character lengths, and the literal characters themselves to reduce the data requirement size. In an application of the data compression method to geographic data that has been organized to facilitate access and use by a navigation application program, the Huffman tree(s) for decoding the encoded characters are stored in a separate portion of the database from portions that include the data that have been compressed using the Huffman coding, thereby facilitating the use of the same Huffman tree(s) for more than one portion of the data records.

    摘要: An image capture user interface receives an image of an area of a user interface selected by a user and translates the image into operations performable by a computer. The user interface is comprised of graphic entities and embedded code. The user places an image capture device, such as a camera pen, on or near a graphic entity of the user interface, and presses a button on the image capture device indicating selection of the graphic entity. In response to the button, an image is captured that corresponds to the graphic entity selected by the user. The image includes embedded code, which is analyzed to develop an image capture code corresponding to the captured image area. The image capture code is then mapped to a selection code corresponding to the graphic entity selected by the user. The user may then make other selections. The selection codes are processed for a particular syntax, and a computer operation is performed when a selection code, or combination of selection codes, is received which indicate that an operation is to be performed. In other embodiments, mapping of image capture codes to selection codes and syntax processing may be performed in accordance with a particular context.
