    Abstract: The invention relates to an image analysis method for automatically extracting data from a bar chart. A processor receives a digital image of a bar chart comprising a plurality of o-bars. The processor provides a plurality of hypothesis charts respectively specifying a sequence of h-bars, a particular way of grouping the h-bars into categories, and an injective mapping from the o-bars to the h-bars. The processor compares the h-bars of the hypothesis charts with the o-bars of the bar chart in the image for assigning the o-bars to series and categories in accordance with the one of the hypothesis charts whose h-bars are most similar to the o-bars and for returning the series and the category assigned to said o-bars.

    Abstract: A control logic diagram analysis device that efficiently creates a control logic diagram, and a method thereof. The control logic diagram analysis device includes a control logic diagram analysis rule application unit, a control logic diagram template component generation unit, and a control logic diagram project-specific part extraction unit. The control logic diagram analysis rule application unit sequentially applies a control logic diagram analysis rule to the control logic diagram from a lower layer level. The control logic diagram template component generation unit acquires the control logic diagram analysis rule having an agreement section within the control logic diagram. The control logic diagram project-specific part extraction unit extracts an element in the control logic diagram corresponding to the control logic diagram analysis rule having the agreement section within the control logic diagram.

    Abstract: A method for image processing. The method includes: reading an image of a flowchart; identifying, within the image, a plurality of paths corresponding to the flowchart; classifying a first path of the plurality of paths as a flowchart element by: calculating, during a solo evaluation phase, a plurality of established likelihood scores for the first path based on a plurality of properties of the first path; calculating, during a neighbor-based evaluation phase, a first plurality of provisional likelihood scores for the first path based on the plurality of established likelihood scores for the first path and a plurality of established likelihood scores for a second path of the plurality of paths; and updating, during the neighbor-based evaluation phase, the plurality of established likelihood scores for the first path based on the first plurality of provisional likelihood scores; and generating a flowchart object based on the classified first path.
